Staff are very helpful and friendly.The previous reviews have some negative comments about surroundings but for us it was really very interesting to get to know local people better,their way of life. We took a lot of unusual photographs at the nearest market. Everything was OK except the early chanting from the temple, it started at 4 am. If you need a taxi to go anywhere, ask a receptionist.   "Stayed at this hotel as part of a tour package. The room is big with all the things that you may need. The restroom had plenty of hot water for a good shower after a busy day. There is free wifi available and the only thing that I didn’t liked was that when I got to my room it was really hot, I trie..."d to turn on the AC and it didn’t appear to work, I called the front desk and apparently there is a default “delay” setting so, when you get to your room and activate the electricity with your key your AC doesn’t turn up, it takes a bit unless you press a bottom that is next to the AC console. For that I had to get on top of a chair then on top of a desk so I can reach the bottom, unfortunately the default temperature was too high and the room never felt cool, honestly I’m not too sensitive to warm environments but that AC was not properly cooling even though it looked new.   "We arrived in Mandalay by plane during mid morning before leaving early to take the slow boat to Bagan. Peacock Lodge is a bit out of the way, which actually is great as you are away from all the noise and hussel in Mandalay. We took two of their bikes to discover Mandalay for half a day which w..."as like nothing we have seen before. My chain happend to snap but managed to have it repaired on the side of the street explaining with my hands and feet, I think they were just stunned that we were around on bikes. Back to the hotel, very friendly welcome and check in. We had the cheapest room, which was basic but did the job. In the afternoon we installed ourselves in the garden for a couple of drinks and a chat with fellow travellers. We had dinner at the lodge, which was delicious and ample. To catch the slow boat we left at 4:45 they drove us to the jetty for a little extra cash. Would stay again and highly recommend due to the genuine hospitality, oh one more thing check out the...
