Mr Ono, Yod, Kung and Nui especially made us feel welcome and at home, from the moment we arrived. Thanks to them and all the other staff (and the smiling driver) for helping to make our stay so pleasant and memorable. They were all friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. They were able to provide good advice on everything from sightseeing and food, to where to buy a great hat! But out by Nammavong, maybe a 10-15 minute walk from the city proper, things feel more "local". You don't have to deal with the swarms of tourists, and it's easier to enjoy the laidback charm that makes visiting Laos so great. What's more, the Guesthouse is just across the street from one of Laos's best temples - Wat Xieng Thong. There are also a couple of other very, very nice temples nearby. All the temples and the relative absence of tourists also makes it easier to enjoy the baci ceremony in the morning, as the monks parade through town collecting alms.
