  "My husband and I stayed in a Double Room at Dormy Inn Kurashiki in April 2013 for one night. The hotel is excellently located right at the entrance to the Bikan Historical Quarter, and only around 10 minutes walk from the railway station. The hotel seems very new or refurbished. Our room had lots of..." light and a nice view and was big compared to other hotels we stayed in in Japan. The bed was very comfortable. Impressed that washing machines were available free of charge, and they serve free noodles after 9.30pm! There are plenty of food options nearby for dinner, and a convenience store right next door. Breakfast buffet was very good and varied. We ate Japanese style breakfast and there was plenty of options for vegetarians. We were going on to do the Shimanami Kaido 2 day cycling route so the staff helped us to organise to have our bags sent to the next hotel.   "Dormy inn, Kurashiki Dormy is a straight 10 minute walk from the train station and easy to find with two large blue "Dormy Inn" signs in front of the entrance. Its location is really excellent as it is just across the street from the canal and Bikan historical area where the art museum, shops and r..."estaurants are found. Rooms are a good size with two full size beds (ours anyway) and private bath. We had a bit of street noise around 4am (a midweek night) but it didn't last long -otherwise it was very peaceful. The hotel serves a complimentary bowl of broth to guests each evening in their dining room. We didn't eat in the hotel because we spied a large Starbucks next to the station and breakfasted there, also dined informally in the contemporary shopping mall connected to the opposite side of the station from Starbucks. Yes, as stated its 30-40min walk from the railway station and a bit hard to find. I walked through Kurashiki historical section on the way, asked a local for the final direc..."tions, walked up the hill. and was welcomed by the manager, booked 4 nights and 3 breakfasts(only japanese breakfast avaliable). The couple running the hostel understand little english , but speak it well. I discovered how nice they were when another japanese traveler and I had a 'chat' with them.
