  "We have just returned from our brief trip to the Pantanal. We were greeted in the airport by Eduardo - the English speaking but local owner of the Jaguar Eco Reserve. Our entire experience was just awesome. The airconditioned rooms/cottages were great, very remote - way down the Transpantaneira -..." giving a true feeling of the uniqueness of the Pantanal. The service and food were even better than expected. We gained a few kilograms. Although it wasn't the most important thing for us - we just enjoyed the nature and being away from it all - Eduardo and his brother-in-law did everything they could to spot us a jaguar - with success on the final day. It was 4am so we only saw the jaguar briefly in the headlights of the car but we did. We saw it a second time while backtracking to the spot we saw it first. The hotel room was great with a very reach breakfast and we only payed R$90 for a double room with a/c and the great staff at the reception. The lodge was amassing , it more like a Pousada, were we staying with a great guide called Ronny Anaconda and dine with him every night was on of the best entertainment, he is full of great experience in pantanal. At the lodge or Pousada, we had private room and bath and it was very comfortable matching most of the good hotels around our trip in Brazil. He was very informative but also happy to chat about anything and everything. Also did a night trip and boat trip wit..."h some other people and he was just as friendly then. I had a different guide for our walk and the others with me had to ask the guide to explain stuff to which he replied 'what do you want me to tell you'.... eh excuse me that's your job!!! Think it very much depends on your guide. Had a dorm room to myself for two nights and shared with two other girls on the other night. It could have been cramped should 6 people have been in the one room. Rooms have fans and air con and hot showers. The food is plentiful and tasty (deserts are really sweet but there are also oranges).
