I was given a chalet with ensuite bathrooms which costs RM85 a night - which I think was okay as there were many others charging RM100+ for the same. It was basic but adequate for most people's needs. Electricity only comes on after 6.30pm - not a problem if you're on the beach in the day. You also have a good view of the sea from the balcony and if you wake up in time, you could catch the sunrise! Noise problems were minor - the generator at the top of the hill can be quite loud, but I am a sound sleeper. Light sleepers may consider this.   "I stayed three nights at BuBu Resort in a Deluxe room on the third floor. The room was not too big but was comfortable, clean and served properly the purpose of a beach stay. I agree with the comments that food is somewhat pricier than one would expect. However it is delicious (try the grilled red..." snapper) and worth spending a bit more on it. If you stay in a deluxe room, you also receive two cocktails for free during happy hour. I would recommend Mai Thai. The staff is very friendly, although during rush hours a bit confused with the orders. Since on Perhentian Kecil no place/resort has its own beach, the sea in front of Bubu can become a bit crowded during the weekend and school holidays since locals are often coming over from the mainland. It is worth partaking in the 3 hour long morning snorkeling. The snorkeling site just beside Bubu's jetty is also nice. I would suggest to take the later boat from Kuala Besut to the island which would allow you not only to start the date late... " More >
