  "We arrived in Costa Rica the summer of 2010. We had an idea of what we wanted to do and where we wanted to stay, but we did not arrange for any accommodations beforehand. We heard of Punta Marenco Lodge from the owner of Cinco Hormingas Rojas, a bed and breakfast in San Jose. We booked the 3 night 4..." day trip for Punta Marenco. The first day we traveled from San Jose to Punta Marenco which consisted of a 6 hour bus ride to the place where we took the taxi which took us to the place where we got on the boat. This was such a fun adventure! First off, we were the only Americans on the bus, which made it quite the ordeal to find out which stop was ours!! It began raining (aka POURING) when it was time to get on the boat so we purchased ponchos at the shop where the boats departed. It was about an hour boat ride through the beautiful Corcovado National Park. The boat went very fast so it was not for sightseeing, but it was still so beautiful. I was most worried about the boat ride in....here are the facts: The boat will carry you and your travel companion, another couple and several employees from the resort. There are about 10 seats on the boat. They will put your luggage in large garbage bags. They are also transporting supplies to and from the resort on this boat. The boat itself is a small ponga boat with two outboard motors that are hand-steered by an employee of the resort. Of our whole trip to Costa Rica this was the part I was most worried about.
