Afandou has several great places to eat and is a charming, friendly little town - not really 'touristy' and with food and drink prices much lower than those in Rhodes town or Lindos. Buses leave fairly regularly from the square [about 15 minutes walk] for Rhode..."s town and Lindos. It is a bit of a walk to the beach, but a pleasant one with an interesting ancient church [and taverna] on the way and several tavernas/restaurants dotted along the beach road. I have had a hip replacement and walk with a stick and I didn't have any problems. Back to the hotel - where everything was clean and well-maintained. The room was cleaned every day with new towels provided, the [small] gardens were well looked after, and the owners - Yanis and Maria - could not have been more friendly and helpful. You have the possibility to leave the car just aside the building (free parking lot) so that you can easily carry your luggage.   "Just returned from a two week stay at Oasis. Firstly this is a family run/owned hotel. The family and staff can not do enough for you. We arrived at 1am and they kept the bar open for us and left us a ham salad each in the fridge which was provided in every room. This was very welcome after our ..."long journey. It took us a couple of days to settle in as this place is unlike anywhere we have stayed before. It is very secluded but so peaceful and set in beautiful gardens. We never had a problem getting sunbeds or anything like that. Catherine, Andreas, Zoe and George all looked after us over and above the call of duty which is one of the reasons we love Greece. Our room (100) had a separate lounge with two extra beds in it plus 2 terraces and a fridge which was useful. Afandou beach is a 10 minute walk away and is lovely as is the village which is also a 10 minute walk away.
