Thanks to the Maui forum we got a great deal on our car. We paid $260 for 2 weeks and had a beautiful car for our vacation.   "We recently returned (checked out 5/20/13) from our stay at Maui Kai 806. We rented from Art and Sophie Nickel. Art was a very gracious host. He quickly responded to my initial inquiry and provided thoughtful responses to all my questions. The property itself is older, but extremely well maintai..."ned. The paint is new as are the elevators and it is obvious the staff works diligently to keep things sparkling clean. The pool and cabana was nice and never crowded, but the lounges and tables do show their age (fading) due to the intense Hawaiian sun. The cabana has a complete, fully equipped kitchen and the poolside there are nice barbeques. You could have a really nice feast with friends and cook up all the sides in the kitchen. Again, you are not likely going to wait because it was seldom used during our stay. Room 806 has obviously been substantially updated. YES they have a designated parking area for Starbucks patrons. The Pools: Recently they stopped using Chlorine in the pools and they are all sanitized saline solution. To me this is a big plus. Timeshare: The resort does offer timeshares but don't be afraid to attend a presentation, they will not pressure you like other places do. Room: We had a one bedroom suite with kitchenette. Keep in mind that because the 'hotel' rooms are not used for the Timeshare owners they do not have any stoves or ovens. This was no big deal for us since we like to eat out anyway while on vacation.
