My first feelings about the Hermitage was that it was an incredibly long way from Sorrento.Previously I had stayed in the magnificent Bristol Hotel, which was only a 10 minute walk from the town centre, but the free shuttle bus was quite efficient..." if you booked early,as it only had 15 available seats.Our room was on the ground floor [no.112] and unfortunately the view was obscured by trees and bushes, which also meant that we could not use the balcony due to mosquitos rising from the greenery.Make sure that you book a room on third floor or above, where you will be amazed at the stunning view of Vesuvious and the Bay of Naples.The staff here are really fantastic,friendly and professional, from reception to barstaff to drivers. We stayed in the 'Sole' cottage which had a decent sized garden with ample privacy. The weather was perfect which enabled us to eat breakfast every morning in the garden. The cottage is exactly as it looks on the internet and has everything you need for the stay. The bed is really comfortable. The position of the cottage and hotel makes the stay incredibly peaceful and relaxing. On most days we were the only two enjoying the swimming pool at the hotel and it was only the day before we returned home were we joined by another couple.
