Instead of lining up to check in we were led to the lounge, given drinks, received a lot of information and given our rooms keys. They didn't have a third bed in the room when we arrived but that was corrected within a couple hours after asking at the front desk. The elevators are fast but try the stairs at least once down or up. The food was very good wherever you went. Favourite specialty restaurant for us was the Japanese but that could be the warm saki speaking. The service was top notch and entertainment almost cruise style.   "The Hotel and housekeeping was wonderful. Yeni, our housekeeper, was great! She organized everything for us, gave us fresh towels twice a day (morning and night) and even decorated the room for my husband's birthday with balloons, confetti, and mini chocolate Hershey kisses. And she gave us a towel ..."animals everyday! When we checked in, we asked if we could get an upgrade on our room since my husband's birthday was on Cinco de Mayo, and they were willing to do that for us- so we got an upgrade to a balcony room facing the ocean and on his birthday we got a bottle of champagne. To eat at the restaurants, you have to make a 4 day reservation to eat at them, and we tried everyone. The steak house was the best- they provided you with a seafood platter, salad, and a choice of steaks and lobster- the meat was cooked great and the lobster was yummy! Last night we visited the other Riu hotels, Jalisco and Vallarta, we would have been disappointed if we had booked there and then saw this hotel, the difference is night and day. Taxi to the Melacon was $23.00 each way, approx 40 minute drive We spent $55 each way on taxis to go to a restaurant called Ocean Grill for lunch and then went a short walk to Le Kliff ( yes, it is spelled this way) for dessert and drinks, we sat and watched whales swimming by, the food was incredible and the views were out of this world, review them on this site.
