I visited the restaurant 3 times, and on each visit one of our group had under-cooked chicken, still bloody inside. We no longer visit the location in the BQ Mall.
I believe slow service is the mantra of Payag. Where ever you are in their branches in Tagbilaran, their slow service is 100% accurate. The food is not extraordinary but generally good. The price is reasonable. It is this irritating slow service that hits me. So whenever I feel like eating here, I phone in my order first and give... More
The Restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable but the waiter / waitresses are most busy with their co worker or phones. after you ordered once it is difficult to get their attention for another drink etc.the buttered lemon chicken we tried was very oily, deepfried and the ketchup they served was too sweet. the lemon sauce tastes good but... Payag's dishes have remained the same throughout the years. I have first tried their chicken inato in Dumaguete (Jo's Chicken Inato), and since then their grilled chicken has been one of my favorites, even better than the ones from Bacolod. I like how their chicken is grilled just right, not overcooked. They have other dishes in the menu, but it... More
I really liked Payag. The grilled chicken and grilled pork were both really good. This place is similar to many I've tried, and this one was better than most. I recommend Payag.
Jo's Payag is just a few minutes walk from the town plaza and is very popular. The specialty is chicken and pork barbecue but the other entries in the menu is worth trying. They have unlimited rice which can get you filled. The place itself has become a landmark in Tagbilaran because of its nice interiors and old ancestral home... More
It was a so,so experience. The place was a bit dusty and the comfort rooms was so dirty. The specialty of Payag was Inihaw na Manok which is quite good especially if your in a tight budget. The place is full of chicken miniatures and decors. The paintings and other things inside the resto will also capture your interest and... More
THis restaurant is known with their chicken barbecue and pork barbecue. they offer unlimited rice and i sooo love their pork barbecue. They also offer pork sisig and the best dessert they offer is the buko halohalo, a mix of different kind of fresh fruit with milk and sugar and they serve it in a young fresh coconut with ice... More
The food at Payag is the best! Especilly their chicken inasal! I would definitely recommend this to everyone who plans to go to Tagbilaran!
Just been to Payag as it was recommended in Lonely Planet. The menu seems to be American style BBQ, rather than Filipino as suggested in the guide book. The sizzling gambas and BBQ pork were OK, but the partially reheated chicken in coconut milk with (exceptionally mild) chilies - or were they red peppers? - was cold. Shame, as everyone... More
