Really good appetizers. Nice infusion teas. Real Moroccan appointment. Laid back on a not busy street. Very open air.
What a delight! The flavors here are magnificent, and a nice change of pace from Mexican food. My wife and I live in Mexico, and Greek/Mediterranean cuisine is hard to find. It is hard to find anywhere that is this good! We started with an order of unusually tasty hummus served with fresh vegetable sticks for dipping. We also ordered... More
We really enjoyed El Morocco. A nice Baja Californian Petit Syrah went well with the couscous. We especially liked the adobe hummus appetizer with extremely fresh vegetables for dipping. The pita was warm and delicious as well. Friendly staff.
My wife and I have been going to El Morocco on a more or less regular basis (every 3 - 4) months since it opened about 2.5 years ago. No initial growing pains, no inconsistency with quality of fare or service, ever, and nothing but good Moroccan food at accessible prices. Ambiance is comfortable, menu covers all the usual bases... I dined at El Morocco three times, twice alone and once with a friend, during a weeks stay in Oaxaca. The restaurant is in a quiet neighborhood, near but slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the zocalo area, and provides an excellent change from Mexican/Oaxacan cuisine. Try the pincho pollo, the lamb or vegetable couscous, greek salad, falafel... More
This place serves authentic Moroccan food with a great selection of salads, pitta sandwiches and couscous dishes. Everything we ate was delicious. Great to be able to find this sort of cuisine being served in Oaxaca, makes a refreshing change. Highly recommended.
This restaurant has great food and it's a nice change from Mexican if you get tired of it while you're here. They've got everything from falafel to cous cous to salad--and all delicious! They also have hookah if you are interested. It's rarely crowded, so the service is excellent. It's in a quieter part of town and it's dimly lit,... More
We were astonished to find a Moroccan restaurant in Oaxaca; even more surprising was how good the food was: Delicious couscous, salads and Middle Eastern appetizers. Wonderful pastry. This is a small informal restaurant in a residential section of downtown which is beautifully decorated and offers warm, friendly service. We especially enjoyed sitting on the comfortable couches and sipping tea... More
I went with family one evening, and we sat in a relaxed setting while we escaped from the rain. The restaurant is small but cosy. I ordered a lamb hamburger, which was nice accompanied with a tea recommended by the waiter. The tea was wonderful. This is not in any way your typical restaurant in Oaxaca, but if you are... More
