Recommended by a friend who loved it, so maybe we were there on an off night. Service was slow (even by Mexico standards), caprese was way over salted, and calamari was pretty tough with little taste. Pasta was good, but portions are a little on the smaller side, spiffy you're hungry, find an app you like to go with it....

About the service, its true, sometimes it can be slow, it doesn't mean that its always like that.
The calamari being tough, hasn't happened before and salty, god help for the salt.!! I hope to see you soon again, and this time it will be worth it....

Definitely recommendable for original Italian pizzas in Playa del Carmen, great centric location on 5th avenue, friendly service and fair prices. Will be back!

Our hotel offered a special here: "best rest. in Playa, and we will give you 10% off and you can charge it to your room" Sounded good to us having had so much Mexican food, we thought Italian sounded great. I was impressed with some of the reviews on TA. I guess I'm a critical reviewer.......Pros: the Italian options were great..(4star)...pizza appetizer, pasta dishes, salads Cons: fish dishes were so so...nothing to rave about...(3star)....malbec wine was overpriced...... service ok but not personable as had been described.

So tried of Mexican food after 6 days, this was an excellent and delicious change. The carbonara, bolognese, and gnochii pasta were better than anything we've tasted in South Philly's Italian Market ! The filet, and margarita pizza disappeared within minutes. Small but nice wine selection. Chocolate mousse was outrageous. Wait staff, Aurturo and Alfonso, were extremely attentive and polite.

GG's was highly recommended to us for a nice bday spot. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival and were seated at an outside table-which I would recommend as its a little warm inside due to the open kitchen-and from that point forward we knew we chose the right venue. The food-awesome....the booze-top shelf....service-excellent....birthday experience-"priceless"! highly recommend.
