Based upon the great reviews on tripadvisor, we made it a point to seek out El Fogon during our week-long stay on the Mayan Riviera. We LOVED it! This is real, authentic Mexican fare (the menu is only in Spanish), so we had to ask a lot a questions. Our server was very accommodating for us "first-timers". One in our...

During one week of vacation in Playa del Carmen we came by several times for lunch and dinner. All dishes we had (tacos al pastor, gringas, fajitas, quesadilla con arrachera, papas al carbon con queso y salchicha) were delicious!! Try the food here and you will come again.
We enjoyed our dinner so much, two of us went back another night. The quesadillas were the best i've ever had and the marguerites were to die for! Great for authentic Mexican food. The staff was great and the price very reasonable.
Even if this taquerias is known by lot of tourist, it's still remain a real mexican place, where locals and tourists eat. It's cheap, good and portions are larges! Chorizo tacos (10 pesos for 3 small tacos) are my favourite!! try this place at least once during your stay, it's worth it!
I always go to fogon. The first time was in 2004 and it didn't change at all since that. I appriciate that instead of changing, which they could since it is always full they decided to maintain the original mexican style. The tacos of arrachera they are really good and the service from the waiters is excellent
We came here after being recommended by our hotel and it's off the touristy places and in the locals area of playa del Carmen it might seem a little sketch walking over but we always stopped by Walmart and hit up el fogon like 4x on our trip. We had the tacos al pastor con queso and all I can...

Excellent for the price!

The food itself is tasty, spicy and fresh. You...

No frills...just great, traditional Mexican tacos. Chorizo is great. Open air seating. Good value. A great place for a simple meal.
We just had dinner tonight and it was delicious. We sat on the second floor and it was very fresh.
These are all grilled meats and they are all great choices. We had tacos al pastor and tacos de carne azada. The "carne azada" was so delicious in itself, that I felt guilty putting salsa on it. Our waiter brought...
