Recommended this restaurant for a girls night out based on previous visits to the Gastown location. The menu is different and disappointing and the service was poor. I could not believe that seating was wooden benches.......built from plywood? Surprised to leave without splinters. I would recommend giving this place a miss....I know I won't go back!

This place is all about food. You come, you eat, you leave. Not a place to take your date to gaze into each other's eyes. Kimchi fried rice is to die for, and same is crispy octopus and sear tuna. Those plus a small bottle of sake cost us $33. Cheap for Vancouver, and our stomachs were full!

Restaurant is a bit tiny and tight as it was really full. But, the great japanese food was well worth it! Had the ramen noodle without liquid and it was delicious! Never had anything like it, very good experience...

My husband and I have been going to Guu for almost a decade. It's still as good as always. Even after they opened several branches all over Vancouver and surrounding suburbs, this original Guu is still the best. We always order the salmon salad and oden. It's great to enjoy the daily specials. The chefs are super friendly and fascinating... More

Crowded, noisy, less than comfy seats, amazing food. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Unusual and creative Japanese tapas style dishes - don't expect sushi and tempura here. The salmon salad was stunning. The only miss was the eel dish. Couldn't find the eel in all the rice. Reasonably priced and lots of drinks and beer by the pitcher. Great... More

My coworker told me to go to this restaurant no matter what when visiting Vancouver; a hole in the wall :) - the food is great ( not amazing ) the experience is just unforgetable. When you walk in you get greeted by the entire staff ( they scream what I believe is in Japanese but have no clue what... More

My son took me here and I was overwhelmed by the experience. When you open the door you are greeted by shouts of welcome and the aroma of great japanese food. The menu is the most unique I've seen in this type of restaurant. We tried lots of dishes and were amazed that each was better than the one before.... More

The squid rings and baked oyster were very delicious, but I would avoid the fish cakes next time. I heard great things about their mojitos, but was served one that was rather disappointing. Not nearly enough mint, and too much sugar. The alcohol content was weak, and as someone who is unusually sensitive I was surprised to find very little... More

Wanna get drunk on the cheap before heading to the club scene or just want to enjoy a casual evening with friends or a loved one with lots of booz and amazing food... well Guus got you covered for all those occasions. The thing I love most about this place is you can get a huge mojito pitcher (they have... More
