This was a great place to stop and have lunch. We were able to see the cruise ship from the patio. The service was excellent and the food portion was just right for a lunch. There is also some good shopping just down the block...from the restaurant. It is a nice walk back to the cruise ship.More

Food was great tasting but the steak certainly was not worth what I paid, 3 to 4 oz. of fat and grizzle on a 10oz steak.

We just walked in off the street to a rocking pub with great draft beer and amazing seafood chowder and lobster Mac and cheese. The pub was busy, there is outside seating, and the band was fun!

Food was fresh and delicious. Service was excellent. Great atmosphere We had a lobster roll and lobster wonton. If your cruising in, its just up from the dock and we'll worth the walk.

It’s such a shame that I have to write this review because the food itself was actually pretty darn good. We went for dinner without a reservation and they found us a table quickly. The waiter greeted us within five minutes but he did not...bring us water, did not tell us about the specials, though he did so for all the surrounding tables. The table behind us, who came in after us were brought their food first. Always a bad sign. The salad that we ordered never arrived and we were charged for it. The calamari was too salty. But the fish sample plate was exquisite, though the service took an incredibly long time. I ordered a martini, and if there was any vodka in it, it was actually hard to find. Seriously the most water down drink I’ve ever had in my life. I complained and they did bring me another for free, so that was good service. I know it’s hard when you’re busy,, but actually they were not all that busy… but we felt that once he knew that we were not Canadian and that we would probably never be back there again. He had no desire to serve us in an awesome way. Way too bad but no worries cause we’ll never go back.More

Wonderful lunch, with a great view from the deck. Others were dining in the cozy pub with live music. Either way you won't be disappointed. We had the lobster poutine; it was fantastic with a couple of local draft beers.

Once a staple of dining and night life in Sydney, NS, Governors has become an overpriced tourist trap set to empty the pockets of cruise ship passengers while alienating the locals. My fiance and I chose Governors for lunch this past week and the entire...experience was fine (some bad, some good) until we received the bill, until we received our $70+ bill for lunch on a Thursday at 3pm. Her drink cost as much as my lunch and her Lobster Roll cost $32.99. An absolutely pathetic display of Governors overpricing anything on the menu with the word 'lobster' in it. A 'brought in' frozen panini style bun with frozen scrap lobster meat on it mixed with mayo, pathetic. The menu is covered with an insert of all the 'Lobster' items with no prices listed, knowing that cruise ship passengers will wish to sample the local delicasy. Unfortunately, all they receive is a sub par product at an inflated price. This site lists their price range as $14-$21 . . . look at the menu. It's an absolute travesty. This Island deserves much better and the fact this place is lined up when there is a ship in Port while much better Local restaurants are empty is heartbreaking. There are countless men and women who work tirelessly to share the best of what this Island has to offer, only to have businesses like this take advantage. I hope karma rears it's ugly head as soon as cruise ship season ends. Good luck. Where is Governor's on the Caleb's Courage Burger Bash menu? They decided to join last minute and don't advertise. What do they serve from the local brewery Breton Brewing (the main sponsor of Burger Bash)? They see them as competition. Support Local but not this place.More

The pub is in a good location and offers dining both inside and out. We were not impressed with the quality of the food. The pasta dish had a distinct aftertaste and was served almost cold (this is not unique to this establishment, we’ve found...that warm serving plates are almost non e in Nth America) . The fries were like warm and soggy. On a positive note, the beer was good and they offer a reasonable variety, also the member of staff who served us was polite and helpful.More

We stopped here for after the usual tourist photo with the fiddle. We stopped and were seated upstairs outside in a beautiful spot. The four of us ordered and shared The Lobster Poutine. Crab cakes, Fish and Chips (Haddock) and Coconut Shrimp. All were delicious....Our first time to eat Poutine. Oh my it was so so good. Service was excellent with our server Ian. We totally enjoyed our meal. So glad we stopped. If you are in port at Sydney stop by this local place and have some local food. You won’t be disappointed.More

Our food was excellent and we loved the dessert. All four of us were happy with the food and the service. The restaurant had live music on another floor. I liked the atmosphere and the building.

The service was good, atmosphere pleasant. A bit overpriced and the food was ok but nothing special. I had the lobster Mac and cheese which had a good taste some of the lobster pieces were chewy and coarse, nothing special.
