This place sets the bar for AYCE sushi in the area. My cousins and I took a 30 minute train to get here from downtown Toronto. The speciality items and service made it worthwhile. Some of our favorite menu items include galbi, ebi, beef tataki,...salmon teriyaki, salmon rose, sous vide styled eggs, and the torched salmon or white tuna sushi. The restaurant offers a raw bar with some shrimp, soups, fruits, cakes and dessert ice creams. A waiter usually brings it out the sushi or theres a robot that has multiple trays of food that brings out the hot menu items to you. Even on a busy packed Friday night we waited less than 10 minutes between our orders. The presentation and flavoring here deserve 5 starts. Our sashimi was presented elegantly on a bed of ice with some bamboo leaves. The meats and some of the sushi fusion rolls had the right amount of seasoning and flavor. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience here. Everything was fresh and service was perfect. I like the wide variety of menu items. You definitely feel like this is an elevated sushi AYCE experience compared to the other mediocre ones across town.More

Yes, the food is tasty and comes fast but the experience is hardly worth the increase in price and their attitude needs to improve.

The restaurant is located inside the Splendid China Mall, across from Pacific Mall, on the south east side of Steeles and Kennedy. The price for the buffet is reasonable...1/2 off to the birthday boy/girl. And they also give a free grilled lobster tail to the...birthday boy/girl. The deal is good during their birthday month. I expected the restaurant to be big since it was an All-U-Eat sushi restaurant. Boy was I wrong! The restaurant is a good size, which makes sense that they are able to offer more variety than some places. They have a small salad bar where you can get your own seaweed salad, jellyfish salad, mango salad, etc. They also have a soup station and a small dessert station where they have jello, puddings and dessert soups. When you are seated they give you an iPad to pick your food. We went on a weekend for dinner so they had a lot more selection like lamb chops, lamb kabob, scallop sashimi, shrimp sashimi...just to name a few. I was very impressed with their selection. Some stir-fries I found it way too salty. The soups I found delicious as well as the salad bar. Seeing that the place was small, not sure if they didn't have their AC on or high enough that we were all sweating. Hard to enjoy the dinner and company when it's too hot. Overall, it was enjoyable, good variety, lots of selection and the food was good. Nothing stood out to say they were different and unique. Would I go back again...possibly, not on my top list.More

The staff and management used to be friendly and the prices were reasonable but towards the end of the year, they are unsmiling and the prices became too expensive. You can see the drop in clients as many leave and choose a better and moderate...restaurant.More

Food is good, however service is the worst we have ever received. We arrived at 530 on Saturday Nov 25th. 4 adults with a baby. They kicked us out at 7 while we were still eating, and one server with glasses told us: "Are you...guys ok?. We have a long lineup and we have a seating limit (what does that even means?) You can order the last round." ( Notice. He didn't even apologize to it) And by 718 we were out. Funny thing was, the table with 5 adults at the next table who arrived earlier than us didn't receive such treatment. For that. We will never go back no matter how good the food is.More

I just came back from Ichiban, and have to compliment the chefs. The kitchen items are very good. The sushi is not quite as good as the kitchen items, so I can't give them five stars. In particular, I like the variety of ways they...cook chicken and beef. I also enjoyed the soup, salad and desert bars. Having recently called another restaurant, the most boring looking AYCE restaurant that I have ever been in, I have to say that this place is a treat for the eyes I can't make an objective statement about the service. Since I have been in so many AYCE restaurants over the years, I am never surprised when I run inter a familiar server. I had not been there for some time, but today, I was greeted warmly by a server who had previously worked at Heart Sushi in Mississauga The manager (ex Sushi Legend and 168 Sushi Vaughn) complemented me on having lost weight. One final comment. I thought that my meal was underpriced and was thus excellent value.More

We saw a sign for Asian buffet, but there was no buffet tables or counters. Instead, the orders went to the kitchen from the menu and shortly the food arrived. Just prepared, fresh, hot, tasty, and well-presented. We really enjoyed our visit there.

Place depends on who is on duty. If the manager is on duty with enough staff , they are efficient but if his deputy is on and few helpers, then there is a mess. However, he really tried his best when there was a group booking...and i understood it was beyond his control when it was really noisy and most of the tour group were entirely seniors that had problems ordering with the tablet. Quality was very good and fast but remember, you are paying $16 for the lunch ayce. For some,it may be $$$$$$ but then the quality is good - excellent. There were some , just average but all in all, i am 80 % happy with it. If it was a quiet day, then the cooks could cope better and the quality and speed would improve. Given time, i see a good future for this place.More

We ate here on a Sunday night. Get here early because it gets really busy after 6pm. The good was pretty good and service was quick. I really like the iPads for ordering your food. You don't have to wave down a server to order...your food. The price was a little high, $30.95 per adult. The menu had a good variety. I would recommend eating here mainly for the quick service.More

We had a great time at Ichiban last Saturday. The food was good and we were starving. The staff were responsive even though the place was totally full and they had to run at times. We had a good chat while wolfing down all kinds...of food and at the end, we were full, but not over full - and satisfied.More

Honestly I'm not a big fan of AYCE Sushi in the GTA - they quality is always mediocre and service is a hit or miss. But my 3 children just love the variety and they really are not discerning when it comes to food yet....So off we went to give this restaurant a try on a Monday night. The price was on par with many other AYCE Sushi places in the area - $26.99 adult & $12.99 children 10 & under. The ipad ordering has also become standard in our area too. The service was efficient and the servers did their jobs without any fanfare (I'm not complaining). The self-serve soup, salad, and dessert bar was sparse. I would only let my kids get the Miso soup from that area as everything else looked like it may have been sitting there all day. We didn't order anything fancy - some teriyaki, tempura, beef ribs, fried rice, ramen, udon, sushi, and some specialty rolls. Nothing stood out as exceptional - but there were no complaints either.More

All in all, the delicious sashimi stood out for me as well as the grilled eggplant, steamed egg, chicken soup with herbs and mushroom (from the salad bar), lamb ribs, Torched Duck Sushi, and beef sashimi. The sashimi were sliced so thinly!

We went there for lunch. The lunch buffet had a range of food to select from. The food was delicious. Especially, the dimsum, Sushi, Chicken with Pepper and Fried Tofu. It's a lot of food for the price.

This restaurantime, like other all you can eat Chinese and Japanese restaurants in the area, allows you to order from the menu and be served at your table. For the price (avg $35/person) you get mediocre food with poor service. The restaurant itself is dark...and cramped. The waiters and waitresses seemed over worked and under paid. They take your order and then disappear forever! We winded up speaking to the manager who took our order again and apologized. Unfortunately we got someone else's order and never really got exactly what we had requested. Try this place if you have absolutely no option and don't mind trying mystery food.More
