This restaurant has a smell of anti black racism. Funny thing is when this racism comes from a bunch of brown people. I have been going to this restaurant for years now and never experienced a taste of racism , in the food, the waitresses,...and the look. And of course , I have been going there over the years with my white friends. This is the first time, that it happened that I went there with my black friends. 3 black guys walking into a restaurant. I should have known better. I tried as much as possible to give them the benefit of doubt. I am not one who sees racism everywhere, but when I do see it , I speak up. We walked in, and waited, and waited, and waited, then they finally saw us. And she said, "it is quiet busy right now", but there is this table right in front of their counter which is available, if we want it. And straight away I pointed to the table right at the left side of the counter which was also available, but she said if we use that table the area would be too congested. OK. Got it. Then I said , what about the other table on the right side of the counter, which was also available. It looks free to me. She said ok, we can have it. She took her time to get the table ready, we sat down, she brought us the usual stuffs, water , cups, etc. Only problem with that area of the restaurant was , each time the door opens, we get the cold air from the outside. A bit uncomfortable, but no big deal. And before she came to take our order, another table became available, in the middle of the restaurant, next to the wall. So we asked to be moved there. She said okay, and we moved there. And from that point, she consciously or unconsciously decided to make us wait. And we waited. and waited, and waited. At some point, I told my friends that she was doing it on purpose. Because, while we were waiting, another party of 2 came in, they were seated, another party of 2 came in, they were seated. We noticed she took the orders of those two tables, so I had to call her. and eventually, she came , took our order. Then another party of 2 came in, they were seated next to us, next thing I noticed, every body was served ( including the new table next to us) except us. So I got up , went to the counter and told them that we were here before this table, that one too, and that other one too. She gave me what I considered her fake apology , and then she brought us our samosa. And again we waited, and waited , and waited, but at this point now, all the tables that came after us had their samosas, their main course and were enjoying their meals. And we were still waiting, and waiting. At this point , i got up and call them up on their BS. Don't pretend that you don't see me. Or you forgot about us, really? Especially after I have complained the first time. If this is not racism, what it is? I stood up, spoke as clearly and as loud as possible so everyone in the restaurant could hear. Then i told her she can keep the food. I am no longer interested in giving them my business. This punjab palace and their employees, all of them brown people are freaking racists. I am so disappointed in this Punjab palace restaurant at 920 Jean Talon street. I paid them for the samosa and left. And to the SISTER who walked in the restaurant with your white dude, while me and my friends were on our way out, After I clearly said , loud enough for YOU and others to hear, you should have been more supportive. They do not like you either. To not give them your business. We need to rally against such stupidity and not continue supporting this type of business. The punjab palace on Jean Talon west 920 is a freaking racist place. I for one , would not go back.More
