This restaurant has a smell of anti black racism. Funny thing is when this racism comes from a bunch of brown people. I have been going to this restaurant for years now and never experienced a taste of racism , in the food, the waitresses,...and the look. And of course , I have been going there over the years with my white friends. This is the first time, that it happened that I went there with my black friends. 3 black guys walking into a restaurant. I should have known better. I tried as much as possible to give them the benefit of doubt. I am not one who sees racism everywhere, but when I do see it , I speak up. We walked in, and waited, and waited, and waited, then they finally saw us. And she said, "it is quiet busy right now", but there is this table right in front of their counter which is available, if we want it. And straight away I pointed to the table right at the left side of the counter which was also available, but she said if we use that table the area would be too congested. OK. Got it. Then I said , what about the other table on the right side of the counter, which was also available. It looks free to me. She said ok, we can have it. She took her time to get the table ready, we sat down, she brought us the usual stuffs, water , cups, etc. Only problem with that area of the restaurant was , each time the door opens, we get the cold air from the outside. A bit uncomfortable, but no big deal. And before she came to take our order, another table became available, in the middle of the restaurant, next to the wall. So we asked to be moved there. She said okay, and we moved there. And from that point, she consciously or unconsciously decided to make us wait. And we waited. and waited, and waited. At some point, I told my friends that she was doing it on purpose. Because, while we were waiting, another party of 2 came in, they were seated, another party of 2 came in, they were seated. We noticed she took the orders of those two tables, so I had to call her. and eventually, she came , took our order. Then another party of 2 came in, they were seated next to us, next thing I noticed, every body was served ( including the new table next to us) except us. So I got up , went to the counter and told them that we were here before this table, that one too, and that other one too. She gave me what I considered her fake apology , and then she brought us our samosa. And again we waited, and waited , and waited, but at this point now, all the tables that came after us had their samosas, their main course and were enjoying their meals. And we were still waiting, and waiting. At this point , i got up and call them up on their BS. Don't pretend that you don't see me. Or you forgot about us, really? Especially after I have complained the first time. If this is not racism, what it is? I stood up, spoke as clearly and as loud as possible so everyone in the restaurant could hear. Then i told her she can keep the food. I am no longer interested in giving them my business. This punjab palace and their employees, all of them brown people are freaking racists. I am so disappointed in this Punjab palace restaurant at 920 Jean Talon street. I paid them for the samosa and left. And to the SISTER who walked in the restaurant with your white dude, while me and my friends were on our way out, After I clearly said , loud enough for YOU and others to hear, you should have been more supportive. They do not like you either. To not give them your business. We need to rally against such stupidity and not continue supporting this type of business. The punjab palace on Jean Talon west 920 is a freaking racist place. I for one , would not go back.More

Horrible place with misleading website. Written black on white that the lunch special (lamb curry) comes with chicken tandoori, vegetable, rice, naan and papadam, and only received lamb curry. Blaming the customer when it's their own error on their own website, saying that I had...to click on thali instead. Then why are you giving the option on your website to order lunch special when NOTHING is included with the curry. Don't waste your time and money... I also wasted all my lunchbreak, having nothing to eat the curry with. Came all the way from St-Leonard for nothing. Never ordering from this place anymore.More

Been a happy customer for 30-some years. Says it all. You should definitely try the lamb vindaloo if you like really spicy food.

It used to be my frequently visited eating place before Covid shutdown and I loved the food. Today, after two years my wife and I went there for lunch. Despite our instructions for a very mild food, the food served was extremely spicy and chilly...hot to the point that I could not eat beyond the first bite. I complained and my food was returned. My wife was able to eat because she mixed it with plenty of rice which I do not eat. I paid by a credit card. After we left the restaurant I checked and found that the cashier had charged me for my food also. I went back and enquired. The cashier said that since the food was prepared for me I had to pay. I protested and got it refunded. Not a good restaurant policy. We also had ordered one dozen samosas to take away. Later at home we tried the samosas. The samosas and the two sauces were so chilly-hot that we could not eat. I guess they will see the dust bin. What a pity? The manager told me on phone that these were the best samosas in town. I do not believe it. I know samosas. My advise for those who want to savor authentic Indian food, not just taste chilies, should look for other eateries.More

I have been going to the Palace for so many years. I never get tired of eating there. Last week, after the reopening of restaurants, I went back just to enjoy the ambiance and the heartwarming service as well as the healing food. Thank you

Once upon a time this was my favorite Indian restaurant, well not anymore. Called in my order to go pick up. Ordered the curry lamb, what an insult. A medium sized plastic container full of sauce and literally 4 small pieces of lamb for $11.00...are you kidding me? How do you mock your customers this way? The vegetable biryani had a few sliced carrots and some peas and quite spicy. The chickpeas masala was not to our liking. The only descent thing was the naan bread. So basically I paid 34.50 to have rice. Sooo disappointed! I will stick to Beau Village on Jarry.More

I've eaten Indian food all my life, first in England and then in Canada so I know what I'm talking about. Punjab Palace is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in Montreal and the prices are very reasonable. I've never had a negative experience there...and I urge you to ignore the negative reviews from people who clearly have no palate for Indian food.More

One of the worst Indian food. Meats are so dry. Taste so fake. And the waitress are all uneducated, don’t even speak English properly, forget about French. Overall it’s a waste of time and money.

I had eaten at this restaurant a few times and always enjoyed the food and service. But the latest visit made me certain never to eat at this restaurant. The service was slow and the waitress wasn't very keen to be helpful. The food was...horrible and we ending up not eating our meal and neither packing it. Most importantly, the hygiene of this establishment is concerning as I saw cockroaches.More

It's just an ok place to go for Indian food. Ambience is good.but definitely the food is not anywhere close to authentic Indian. We had naan and 2 curries there, and it was just ok. The chicken biriyani was too hot. The beef biriyani that...we took as take out had too much of masala added and it was over powered. The full tandoori chicken too was just ok. Won't repeat here.More

In the few blocks surrounding the Punjab Palace there are 6 to 8 other Indian restaurants. I've been to them all. Others have better service and atmosphere but I think for the price Punjab Palace has the best food. For the price I can't really...complain about anything.More
