Neither of us are "big eaters" but we both left feeling the portions had been on the mean side. Four mini scallops, beautifully cooked, seemed not to justify their supplement charge. They were served with miniscule onion bhajis which did not look or taste good. A serving of three samfire stalks with an excellent piece of brill hardly came near... More

A good choice of local produce, including local wines, cooked well and served by well-informed staff. We had the mussels for starters and the fish for our main course - all very delicious.

We stayed at the Penzance Hotel which is not the very latest in atmosphere and interior decoration but it is extremely comfortable, clean and well run. The Bay Restaurant was incorporated in this hotel and was such a lovely surprise as it had a different feel entirely with its white tablecloths, sophisticated menu and delightful staff. My husband's beetroot soup... More

We ate in the Bay Restaurant over 3 nights during our stay at the Hotel Penzance. Tea/coffee is served in one of the lounges every afternoon with delicious complimentary little cakes and biscuits, we had to be careful we didn't spoil our appetite for dinner! We ate in the Bay restaurant each evening and worked our way through several menu... More

Maybe it's because there's not a lot of nice restaurants in the area (I'm just guessing) or because people feel nostalgic about The Bay restaurant, but, as we're used to very good food and London restaurants, we were incredibly disappointed. The staff were lovely, but the food was extremely average. The prices, unfortunately, don't reflect that and we left feeling... More

I'm so sorry you were disappointed not to find little London on sea in the depths of a Cornish January. Atmosphere is so hard to create in a restaurant when the numbers are so low and the sun isn't shining, but we always try our hardest. We remain open seven days a week, all year to provide service for our... More

Lovely to see you enjoyed our scrummy afternoon tea, it's becoming quite a thing with ladies who lunch and gradma's treats as well as simply treating yourself. Do come back for more More

we attended this resturant with a voucher from a local radio station, we were offered a seat in the bar or at our table we choose to go straight to our table. nobody offered to take our coats even though the table that came in after us did have there coats taken and hung up, we were given the drinks... I'm mystified by this review. How we could be seen a not good value when we offered exactly the same a la carte menu to you as everyone else dining, and deducted £25 from your bill for your voucher in addition is beyond me. Our service presumes guests wish to begin their evening with a pre dinner drink, which is... More
