I have visited the cheese society several times and really enjoyed my food there. In particular the specials have been well above standards you would expect for the type of environment you are sat in which just looks like a cafe. However, on my last visit the cheese fondue did appear to be very sort of 'gloopy' and not at... More

The most simple dish to cook to perfection is a slice of salmon which was served under cooked, waited for another to come which was dry and over cooked and my partner and son had finished their meals so was eating on my own, the salmon ended up in the dog (he loved it), over inflated prices for simple food... We responded to your personal email with our apologies that the breakfast/lunch was not as you expected and refunded you accordingly for the Herb-crusted salmon fillet which was a little under-cooked. We very rarely get problems with the meals from our kitchen, but if it happens we do try to rectify the situation as quickly as possibly and in this... More

Had a delicious meal on a week-day lunchtime. Good service. Friendly and efficient. I thought the prices were OK. There are plenty of places that can accommodate small children. I whole-heartedly approve of their no under-10s policy. It's just not big enough for small children and all the paraphernalia of push chairs etc...

We went for a late lunch on Tuesday after an early trip to the cinema. As usual the atmosphere was calm and cheerful at the same time, a difficult thing to achieve. I had the Ploughman's lunch, which really was very good, teeming with good local produce; I even left some bread as there was such a good selection of... More

Thank you very much for taking the time to review us and pleased that you enjoy your visits to us. Regarding the salad - that gets changed according to what is in season and subject to availability. We try to source seasonal and local as much as possible for our menus. We are really looking forward to the upcoming local... More

I visited on Saturday with my boyfriend. We arrived just after 2.30pm and it was really busy, all tables full but we were offered a drink whilst we waited for a table and we actually got a table within 5 minutes anyway. We ordered the cheese board with several different cheeses of the month, grapes, celery, apple and loads of... More

The only downside we have to say about here are the opening times. Due to working mon- sat office hours it's taken us a long time to be able to get here, so took the opportunity to visit on a rare days annual leave. We think it would be great if they opened in the evenings too. The food however... More

We visited the cheese society for lunch. It was pretty good. Some of the food was expensive for what you got. For example my starter was £5, but was only 1 half of a potato skin. My husband had the burger, and it was not brilliant just a basic burger from a supermarket. I did enjoy that they came and... More

Hi - just thought that I would respond on a couple of points to your recent review as it seemed that you didn't particularly enjoy your experience with us. The burgers we have on the menu are not from a supermarket, we make them on the premises from steak mince from our local butcher. He sources his meat locally and... More

The best place for lunch in Lincoln. Good selection of food, both hot and cold, in an informal setting. They also sell cheeses, chutneys, etc... that are great to keep or to give as presents.
