My little sister is an avid tea drinker and had always wanted to do a traditional high tea - when we found out we'd be meeting up in London, i started researching places to do it and based on reviews picked The Dorchester. We had booked a reservation for the Vintage High Tea package on the Promenade. Service was impeccable,... More

My husband organised the Chelsea Flower high tea for my 30th birthday at the Dorcester as all our friends had highly recommended it. I was so excited and looking forward to it but what a disappointment is was - the service was a hit and miss with only 2 waiters serving half of the room. I had to pour my... More

I booked afternoon tea at the Dorchester to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary, we were not disappointed. We opted for the Champagne Tea. The Dorchester is pure luxury through and through. The Promenade Restaurant is stunning with its padded seats and sofas, luxurious materials everywhere, subtle lighting and huge flower arrangements. Afternoon tea is all about elegance – the staff,... I was looking forward to afternoon tea as a birthday treat. I was so disappointed. The small sandwiches were just ok, I liked the scones, you get two smallish scones, 1 fruit and 1 plain, with jam and clotted cream. The black currant jam was lovely. Then you get 6 bite size cakes which again wereok, nothing special. I don't... More

This place is the real heart of the Dorchester. High prices for unexciting food. Wonderful people-watching pretty much all day and night. Service started slow and stiff but they quickly realized we are fairly easygoing, so they shared stories of where they are from, training history etc. don't go for the food but do stop in for tea or a... This is our second visit to the Dorchester for tea and it is as good as ever. Calm, unhurried service in beautiful surroundings (flower displays are incredible) and a selection of finger sandwiches, cakes and scones plus a selection of teas of course made for a great hour and a half that passed in double quick time.

Afternoon tea was disappointing. For what we paid the cakes and sandwiches were ok. there is only so much tea you can drink. The diabetic cakes were boring and dry. You would think they would have created something tasty for diabetics wouldn't you! The Dorchesters' reputation is quality and high class but found it to be average. The waiter was... More

My elderly mother wanted to take afternoon tea here as an 80th birthday treat. Firstly, travel chaos on the rail network meant we had to cancel on the original date. The Dorchester team re-arranged our pre-paid booking with no fuss at all...first class. Walking through the revolving doors immediately sets the atmosphere, calm, pristine, elegant and oozing great service. Your... More
