This is true, classic English food at its finest. Heritage dishes served the same as hundreds of years ago... very nice.
This is by far, without doubt, the oldest and most traditional restaurant in London. I was so happy I got to know this place! A trip to London is not complete without a stop here. Food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. A traditional English restaurant that actually tastes good! I don't quite have the taste for british food in general... But, I... More

I dined at Rules for a late lunch with friends and family in late November, 2013. What a wonderful find. This is a very old-fashioned London grill. It is very near Covent Garden and open after theater. The interior is dark wood and paneling and loaded with pictures of British politicians, actors, personalities. There was a fireplace near our table.... More
Visited London last week with wife and friends and went to the oldest restaurant in London and certainly one of our favourites.' Rules,' it is just off Covent Garden and well worth a visit. The service was great, the food wonderful, and we found a superb and not too pricey NZ Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough St Clare. The atmosphere is country... More
Had an amazing meal with our son & his fiancee in this lovely restaurant. Once again superb food and very helpful waiters when it came to choice of dishes. So much so we have already booked for thanksgiving in 2014!
Invited here for a midweek lunch with friends, and it turned out to be a reunion to remember. The Service, from start to finish was exemplary. The menu ... well .......difficult choices between traditional and modern dishes, all of which received acclaim in the eating. We will defintely return, and explore the menu further.
Great ambience, all the staff were attentive and knowledgable about the food. A very British menu with hare, rabbit, game in abundance. The stout braised beef cheek was absolutely superb as was the rabbit hotpot. Overall excellent value with outstanding food
I have been to Rules 3 times so far and I have to say that I love it! I have been there only in November or December so I have only seen the restaurant with christmas decorations. It is decorated in the most elegant way I have ever seen. The food is amazing and the service very good. I got... More
