You could easily walk past this place and not notice it - but if you feel like authentic Moroccan food then this is the place to go.
First time eating Moroccan, so I cannot compare the flavors and food to other restaurants. But I do have to say this, the service was EXCELLENT! Our server was extremely helpful in recommending dishes for us to try. The food was great as well. But I'll reiterate that this is my first time trying Moroccan food. For the starter we... More
Picked this by chance after walking the streets of Islington. We were quite early and so we were placed by the window, which suited us. Good choice of dishes, seems authentic as best I can tell. Starters were excellent, and my main tagine was also perfect. Other main was a slightly dry chicken. Service was very good: attentive without being... More
Went with my sister and her other half. Restaurant wasn't busy when we got there, but soon filled up. Menu has a lot of choice, and around 10 tagines, ranging from a selection of different lamb dishes, through a fish tagine to rabbit and venison. Everything was very fresh and well cooked and presented. Reasonably priced for London - came... More
We eat here whenever we are in the area and never disappointed. Forget all the other, newer, trendy places in Upper Street. Maghreb has been here for ages and the food here is always excellent. Wine list has a good mix too. Some of the Morrocan wines are a real treat!
Went there on a sat evening based on Tripadvisor recommendations (don't ask me why, but that day we have been craving for a good couscours...) We arrived early & since the restaurant was almost empty, they put us by the window to attract passers by... (In the end it worked, when we left at around 9pm the place was very... More
Islington, a wide choice of restaurants. A few weeks ago, I was there with some friends. Almost by change, we saw this restaurant and we decided to try it. It was a pleasant surprise ... great food, wide choice of dishes, excellent service. Definitely one to return to.
We ate there last Thursday evening , I had the Kefta Tajine, very tasty. Friendly service . Not that cheap £77.00 for two courses for 3 people, price did include 4 Moroccan beers and a couple of glasses of wine. Would recommend if you are in the area.
We ate here by chance on a Tuesday evening as our regular restaurant in the area (Gem) was full. There was plently of space. The food was tasty, traditional Moroccan with few frills, the service friendly and prompt. The Moroccan wine was a very pleasant surprise. Not that cheap, £90 for 3 for two courses and a bottle of red... More
Four of us ate on a Saturday evening. Great food for carnivores and veggies alike (we were two of each), a far better veggie choice than normal. The lamb in the tagine was great quality and then deliciously cooked. Three full courses and drinks for £120, and great service too. I would recommend it to anyone - try it yourself
