First time at Bath's Bistro La Barrique, but we regularly went to their Gloucester Road restaurant before it closed. The small plates are fantastic - essentially French tapas dishes - and we had the early evening theatre special menu, so great value too! We always love the creamed spinach and the potato gratin dishes, but have tried many things over... More

We went early on a friday evening, hadn't booked but they found us a table even though quite busy. We are vegetarians and were pleased to see several of their 'petit plats' to suit us. These are starter size dishes so you can have several and share them with your friends and you get to try lots of dishes - an... More

We'd eaten here before and remembered that the food was good. I booked for a Saturday night, but when we got there they could not find any record of our reservation. Fortunately a table was free anyway, and the lost booking was the only blot on the evening. The food comes in small clay dishes and you can order as... More

We had a family meal here and everybody loved the place. The food, the service, the ambience were all great. This place ticks all the boxes. Unusually, the portions are like tasing plates, or tapas but this worked really well and between five of us we probably tried about 75% of the menu items. It was really busy / full... More

Wonderful food, service and attention to detail. They clearly love cooking and hospitality. I've had several visits over the years and have recommended it to lots of friends. Great wine list too - good value!

The Bistro is one of Bath's special gems, and remains after 3 years our favorite (tied with the Chequers) restaurant in town. Michel constantly finds new ways to reinvent the menu and reimagine French classics. And the portions are key. Think you might like bream but not sure? You don't have to commit to a 26 GBP plate, you have... More

We had a really enjoyable, if quite unusual, meal here. I mean, how often have you eaten French 'tapas'? And it is certainly authentically French - we much enjoyed chatting to Michel the owner and chef. Having eaten a decent lunch earlier in the day, all we needed was a light meal - but we were still hoping for something... More

Couldn't believe we hadn't heard of this place as we've lived in Bath all our lives! Fantastic food, excellent service, very good for trying several different dishes. Extremely good value. Great ambiance! Will definitely visit again!

Michel very warm and welcoming. Delightful enclosed rear, sunny courtyard garden. Reasonably priced, superb food, great wine selection and friendly staff. We were thrilled to discover this gem.

Went for dinner early evening on a cold and wet first night in Bath. The food was excellent. We had four small plates and two vegetable sides plus bread and olives. Two of the small plates were from the specials board and two from the main menu, all were delicious. Not having much knowledge of European wines, we choose a... More
