The hostess at the Old Siam found an opening for us even on a busy Saturday evening. The food was very tasty, combined with a very friendly staff and situated in a crowded street - the last-evening-dinner in Newcastle was something to remember! Will come back for sure next time my wife and I'm in town, but then I'll remember... More

I went here for my 21st birthday meal with family (no pressure!) after reading fantastic reviews. As expected it was small but the 8 of us fitted in to our table just fine with some strategic people placement. We ordered banquets totalling 8 people's worth which was more than enough food and I would perhaps order slightly less person-for-person next... More

I visited here with 5 friends but the restaurant seems too small for big group so it took time for waitresses arrange table for us. But worth of waiting, the food really good, we had 6 people but ordered 2 banquets (for 2), that's all enough and good value at all. My favourite is Thai green curry and here is... More

We had high expectations of this place esp as we love Thai food and after all the amazing reviews here. Service was very good, but that is the only positive feedback I can come up with. I'm very surprised that no one has commented on the table mats! I got totally put off on seeing old food debris stuck within... More

We were working in Newcastle and a group of us went to Old Siam for dinner and had the most delicious food. Subtly spiced, freshly cooked dishes with amazing flavours. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The wine was of very good quality and very reasonably priced. Service was excellent. We'll definitely be coming back.

Consistently wonderful food and good service. My only worry is that more people will discover it as it's not always easy to get a table!

Popped in here on Saturday and it was nice. We shared a tempura veg starter which was fresh and light and more than enough for two. Then we had beef and oyster sauce and pad kee mao (noodles) with chicken. Lovely although the noodles were slightly over done for my taste and the rice wasn't as fresh as it could... More

We last came in Decemeber 2012 so on our recent visit to the area we just couldnt wait to return. We booked a table for Friday night 3rd May and it was a good job as it was full. The welcome you receive is so genuine you feel comfortable straight away. We firstly wanted to have some of the gorgeous... More

We celebrated my daughter’s 21st Birthday at this restaurant. The food was very good, all the food was cooked very well and the meat very tender. The portion sizes here are very large so make sure you go in hungry. The service was excellent, we brought in our own Birthday cake which we gave to staff on arrival, and they... More

Old Siam is located on Newcastle's Quayside, and within walking distance to Monument Metro Station. It's a converted building and certainly not purpose-built, but decorated well enough. On arrival a bowl of 'Thai prawn crackers' (forgive me if there's a more authentic name!) were presented to us, I must say that these were pretty delicious. For starters we ordered the... More
