I grew up in Japan, and now I go back there and have occasions to have traditional/modern Japanese cuisine. Castle Terrace's prefix surprise menu is such a special treat everyone at my table enjoyed much. It is obvious that the chef is influenced by the traditional Japanese Kaiseki style dishes - a small portion of many plates pleased our eyes... More

This is proper fine dinning and come with a price to match but was well worth paying. The canapés when we arrived were really nice, the amuse bush was not to my taste by my wife loved it. The Menu is extensive with an al carte section and a seasonal section (you can mix and match), there is also a... More

In reality, the restaurant's food is a solid 4, but not at the prices charged. We were there last night and started with a risotto with ox tongue which was good and a scallop plate that may have been the best we'd tasted. Our dinner's were a cut of beef for 44 pounds (67 US dollars) which was a big... More

From the moment you enter till the moment you leave this experience is great. We booked online for the taster menu and were asked about dietary requirements at that time and these were catered for by the kitchen. The staff are great and what sets them apart is they know how the food is cooked, what the ingredients are where... More

Really nice but was quite busy on the day we went! Lots of little bars and eateries and shops to get souviners etc. they are setting up for the edinbrugh tattoo so did close the space up so maybe that's what made the place seem packed and overcrowded.

So, curious to find out what the Kitchin's "cousin" was like, I had an excellent dinner there. Top notch ingredients, with a turbot cooked on the bone worth a particular mention, though everything was excellent, from the sea trout tartare to the dessert. Dishes are very neat in their presentation, the service is friendly and extremely competent. I know I... More

Well worth a visit. Overall food was good - my risotto of organic spelt (for those from Asian countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia - this is like a 'bubor terigu') with fried cubes of ox tongue and exquisitely fried miniature onion rings was DELICIOUS, and my daughter's scampi looked and tasted great too. Her stuffed saddle of lamb was... More

I was on a business trip in edinburgh with my colleagues and had lunch at castle terrace. We were very impressed by the presentation of the food, each course looked like an artwork. The taste of food was very good, but there's room to improve. I had the pork dish, the grilled veggies at the side were just fantastic! But... More

Simply the best lunch experience I have ever had. My father and I were there for 3 hours which might seem as a long lunch but the time just flew by. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine. I loved the aesthetic of the food and the flavours of the food were a surprising joy to... More
