My wife and I live close by and visiting water of Leith is the highlight of our weekends (and several days in-between). The food is of an exceptional standard, with the weekend 3 course specials a particular highlight and great value for money. The service is wonderfully warm and child friendly and all in all we think water of Leith...

We had a croque monsieur and a mackerel special with risotto. Absolutely delicious. What stood out the most was the excellent service. The tarte tatin dessert was amazing.
Visiting this on a rainy Saturday, having been a few times before was expecting good things. Probably one of the most irritating waitresses I have ever come across served us, very rude and unwilling to accommodate any slight flexibility of order. Will not be back.
Visited with family, service warm and friendly, food was really nice, freshly made to order. Cullen Skink delicious; croque monsieur yummy as were accompanying french fries. Desserts all delicious especially the chocolate tart. Great changing area for small children and good toys / books to keep them amused. Definitely recommend.
Only thing would say is would be good to be...

Staff are so friendly, food is amazing, try the Chickpea and sweet potatoe curry, it's so yummy. Very reasonably priced. Great for families :)
Had a great lunch at Water of Leith. Great food and great value. Quaint atmosphere and friendly service. Would definitely go back.

So casual and upbeat, this place is as easily recommended for a nice coffee, as for a good lunch. Our trips to Edinburgh wouldn't...
