Went with my wife and friends. lovely restaurant. We had the tasting menu with accompanying wine. I dont like lamb which was on the menu, and with no hesitation they swapped it for beef. The food and wine were excellent, definitely on a par with other michelin restaurants. Definitely recommended.

Wow what a fantastic place, been a good 3 or 4 times now and still in love with this place. For what you get the price isn't expensive.

Four of us ate here last Sunday evening , it was the only Michelin restaurant open on a Sunday , and what a find . We have eaten in several Michellin restaurants , and this was up there with the best , the service was superb , setting is really nice , but the food was sublime . My friend... More

Twentieth wedding aniversary so decided to treat ourselves and we were not disappointed. NIce bar area where we decided what to eat while drinking our aperitifs. Starters of Foie Gras and Asparagus with Black Pudding and Scotch Egg were very nice. Mains of Lamb and Duck went down very easily. The desserts of Poached Rhubarb and a Chocolate Cremeux rounded... Although this is one of Edinburghs nicest restaurants it is also one of the more expensive. The food here, whilst good, failed to reach the high standards of Martin Wishart or Dominic Jack. I found two courses on the tasting menu out of step with the others in terms of quality, which was otherwise very high.

We pushed the boat out on the final night of our honeymoon in Edinburgh and ate at Number One, as we'd heard it was amazing but wanted to see for ourselves. Yes it was fairly expensive, however equated to about the same price we'd paid in The Witchery earlier on in the week, and I have to say beats it... More

If you fancy anything that use less salt, this woundnt be the place. waitress was clumsy enough spilt water in my plate, didn't apologize at the first place until she discovered i would open my mouth and said "eh"..definitely not Michelin 1 star standard. to the price you could find a far better 1star restaurant in London. but the manager... Having eaten in a few Michelin star restaurants what number one has over most of the rest is superb service! On arrival we had a G&T aperitif. Both of them appeared flat, no problem no questioning - simply changed. My husband is pretty fussy and doesn't eat fish or selfish and I fancied the tasting menu. We asked if he... More
