Without really knowing what is typical Irish, this place seemed quite original both what comes to menu and atmosphere. Service was really great, greetings to Mike:). I would definitely recommend this place if you want to taste something different. And you won't leave this place hungry! BTW, cheese cake was great and we were able to share it between three... More

My friends and I had a good experience here. Very friendly staff. Starters were good as was my Boxty burger with standard chips (aka American home cut fries). Nice atmosphere. Nothing out of this world but better than a touristy meal. Pricey as usual in Ireland.

Dinner here was fantastic. I had the chicken and bacon boxty and the other half had the lamb burger. He rolled his eyes, then closed them in ecstasy after the first bite of his burger. And the accompanying chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, even though they were thick chips. The chicken in the... More

This restaurant is one of my favourite hang outs when I have clients in town and they want to have a 'taste of Ireland'. It's in the heart of temple bar but it's not touristy and the food is lovely! My favourite is the boxty with beef: it's tasty and juicy and really fills you up! The staff is friendly... More

It's my second visit to Dublin and last time I came I was recommended to go to Gallaghers Boxty House. This time I needed no prompting, it was already at the top of my 'to do' list. From the moment you step through the door you are made to feel like a long lost family member by the staff, they're... More

First of all the food service person - Bobby was amazing! He not only recommended foods and beer, he also told us about a microbrewery that he thought we might be interested in trying. The food was nothing short of incredible! I had the lamb burger which was cooked to perfection and served with the best "chips" in Ireland. My... More

Cannot fault the food, my wifes Irish stew was superb & my steak wrapped in a traditional boxty served with a creamy mushroom sauce was amazing. The downside was the location, bang in the middle of temple bar, we were seated in the window by the waiter, where our view (whilst eating the lovely food) was a homeless smackhead having... More

We were so sorry to hear about the horrible street scenes you had to witness while trying to enjoy your meal. Your review has been passed onto the Temple Bar traders who work in conjunction with the local Garda Síochána in helping to keep exactly what you described off the streets of Temple Bar. However we are glad to hear... More

We had a lovely evening in this rustic venue with delicious food. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly and made the experience extremely enjoyable. The location is fantastic in the heart of Temple Bar but really the best part of this restaurant was the stew. I would highly recommend the three taster pots of stew. Yum yum!!

Great little place, to try out some real irish cuisine. We had the boxty pancakes and the dumplins, plenty of it, really tasty wholesome food, great for a cold november evening. staff very friendly and attentive.

I was surprised to see how good the reviews were on here, since we didn't have a good experience (actually the worst meal we had in Ireland). We were told it was 'new menu night', so perhaps that was a main reason. We arrived and despite it being fairly empty were put in an uncomfortable back corner of the downstairs,... More

We were very sorry to read that you did not have a positive experience with us. Please let us assure you that this is very uncharacteristic for The Boxty House, as you can see from our other reviews we have a very good reputation for providing our customers with an overall excellent dining experience. As you mentioned we have very... More
