After touring St. John Basilica, we stopped here for lunch. Very authentic and a nice family owned business.
Over run by tourist, not great food, service was just fair. There are better places on the Borgo. The dining room was very crowded and loud. The pasta was passable, but one expects better in Rome.
We dined here on Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. I had rigatoni alla norcina and then saltimboca alla romana. All was great although, as usual in Rome, the saltimboca could have been warmer. The waiter mixed the order up a bit - one of us ordered roast veal but got saltimboca as well by mistake.
Went here on recommendation through hotel. When the waiter realized we weren't ordering a 3 course lunch he quickly took away our cloth napkins. He proceeded to treat our group of 3 very rudely since we were not ordering a large meal or alcohol. Had spaghetti with meat sauce not the best I have had but not bad either. Upon... More
Very good food and excellent service. We ate there almost every night, for our one week visit and your waiter at the time knew us and had our favorite vino and orangata ready when we came in. We were there in March 1994.The waiter took our picture and it hangs in our office.(See below)
If it's good enough for pope, it dhould also be good enough for everyone. We were attracted to this restaurant by the smell from the street. After looking at the TA rating, we were a little bit scared, but the smell took over. We just couldn't resist it. And we made no error. This is one of the best restaurants... More
I visited with business colleagues. We had mixed pasta to start, it was dry and lacking in flavour. The main course consisted of 3 different meats including very over-cooled chops with scarcely any meat on them and a small portion of greens. Deserts were OK but nothing special. I would have complained but the evening had been arranged by a... More
I wish I could write in Italian so the owners and local citizens could see how bad this place really is. It's close to Vatican City so persumably they don't have a lot of repeat customers. I suspect that is why they feel they can get away with rude service and bad food. The food was bad because it was... More
We expected the restaurant, since it is in a touristy area, to not be all that great, but we were appalled at what we actually found. The food was sub par at best, and the service was the worst I have ever had. The wait staff and owners are both rude and unaccommodating. Steer clear of here.
I was introduced to this gem by a priest friend about ten years ago, and every time I visit Rome, I make it a point to dine at da Roberto al Passetto di Borgo following a visit to the Vatican. It is difficult to choose which dish is best since everything I tried I liked. But one of my favorites... More
