We ate here several times during out time in Funchal after being recommended by Rosie the concierge in our hotel the Quinthina Sao Joao We found the owners very pleasant and the food excellent. The prices were very good ranging between 9 & 15 euro's for a main course.

Disappointing. We were recommended by friends to try this restaurant who had been twice. I agree with those who said the fish tastes frozen and dry. My partner said his king prawns were exactly that and thought they were the worst he had ever tasted. My meal of seafood cannelloni was better but bland as was the garlic bread. Nice... More

We were recommended to go here on our first night in Madeira by our hotel and it was an excellent start. We were warmly received although early before opening time. The food was of good quality and typical Madeiran fare. We both had fish which was well cooked. The service was excellent from the brothers and even the desserts were... More

We stumbled across this restaurant after a wonder through Funchal. It is well presented and the service is very friendly. The food, however is very average. The prawns tasted as though had been frozen and my husbands sardines were very dry. I had the scabbard for main which again had the distinct taste of being frozen and the vege was... More

The three brothers who own this restaurant are friendly, charming and offer excellent service with a smile. The food was outstanding value and very tasty indeed. Everything is presented beautifully and extremely fresh.

A small restaurant where everything is cooked fresh and served by smiling, delightful waiters. Great attention to detail. It was all delicious and the fruit platter is a work of art!

Olives is located in ancient Funchal. Located in between The Cathedral ans the City Hall, has an excellent service and a very good ambience. The Food is creative, and based in typical products of Madeira or in ancient Portuguese cuisine. The price is fair.

Our first meal in Madeira was at this restaurant in the backstreets of Funchal. the choiceson the menu were excellent & the food well presented. The restaurant escaped theUsual Madeiran excesses of excessively large portions & overcooked vegetables.

This was our 4th visit. It has become an annual trip. As usual, the food was delicious and the owner (Lewis - Louis?) very attentive. The restaurant is moving very soon to the Estrada Monumental in the Lido district of Funchal (where all the hotels are) which will give them more indoor and outdoor space, plus nice views over the... We came here based on the tripadvisor reviews, and it's pretty much as expected. The indoor section is quite small, and the kitchen even smaller. The four staff all beaver away to get the food ready, and perhaps the ratio of staff to diners needs changing, as at one point there only ever seemed to be one table with food.... More
