Statholdergaarden is rated as Oslo's top restaurant on Tripadvisor. It has maintained a Michelin star for 15 years. Chef Stiansen won Bocuse d'Or in 1993. Conclusion? The best restaurant in Oslo, non disputable. And finally, after celebrating our anniversary here last week, we can confirm this from personal experience! The service is friendly, professional and attentive. The decor is elegant... More

We had a table for two. All of the staff where very nice and proffesional from beginning to the end. We choosed a 6 course dinner with a "wine package"- excellent wine to the best dinner ever. We got four different very tasteful appetizer before we startet with the 6 dishes. We also had a apertif with a drop of... More

As a gift for my birthday, I was treated to a 5 course food and wine menu at the Statholdergaarden restaurant. It was a great evening, there is quite a luxury feeling to a visit here. The food was superb, the fish soup was the best I have ever tasted. The wine went very well (after my taste) with the... More

We've been to a lot of the best restaurants in Oslo, and this is one of the best. It serves traditional Michelin food, but isn't boring in any way. Great service, great wine and great food. We had the tasting menu-with the wine-menu (as we always do in the top restaurants), and I would really recomend it. Tip: if you... More

As a total dining experience from arrival through all the hours it lasted until we left, this was the best dining experience I have ever had. First, the food quality was impeccable. Everything tasted fantastic, and was presented in a very tasteful way, top notch. Second, the servie was fantastic with very knowledgeable waiters, even the chef in charge took... More

great location downtown Oslo, very comfortable, cozy, very welcoming stuff. We had a lunch there with a friend. Everything was exclusively tasty, well prepared and looked amazing. The choice of wine and menu cart will satisfy the most demanding customers. There was funny case, as I took Bent Stiansen cook book just to read when we were entering, it was... More

This is a traditional a la´ carte restaurant which have been around for a long time. Its a one star restaurant and they dont take a lot of chances in the kitchen. With that said its been really good both times ive been there. Highly skilled kitchen without the showing off you get in some star restaurants. Service is impeccable... More

This restaurant is probably amongst the three best in Oslo. It is located in a beautiful old house centrally in Oslo. They offer one set menu of seven courses where you can reduce it down to four courses. Thy also offered a wine menu to each of the courses. The meal was excellent. The mine menu suited well to the... Tried their 4-course set-menu. Although rather expensive (kr 995) with 4 wines (kr 770) and coffee (kr 68) = kr 1833 well worth the money. Plenty of food - not always the case with taster menus (see my review of Fjord) PROS: Knowable and attentive (without being obtrusive) staff, good atmosphere, delicious and artistically presented food . Plenty of good... More
