We had an excellent dinner at Ristorante La Badia. The wait staff was very attentive, translated the menu items into English for us. Service was excellent and the meal was unforgettable.
We ate here because we were staying at this abbey, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this restaurant. A fire was burning, which was appreciated on a cool night. We were sufficiently impressed that we ate there again our second night. The staff knew their stuff and were very helpful.
The food is based upon the local tradition: roasted meats. Superb. The wine list is typical for a great Italian restaurant. But then the wine list is not particularly necessary: select the local wines with this menu and you will not be disappointed. How many opportunities do you have to eat in a 900 year-old hotel / restaurant? Do it!
The restaurant was almost empty and i understand why. The prices are extremely high for the region, but the quality is below what you can expect. When we asked for a whine sugestion they offered us the most expensive on the list. It was nice but can be obtained for half the price anywhere else in a restaurant in Umbria.... More
This restaurant is really worth visiting, the food is lovely (especially the fish!!) the staff very professional and friendly. It's not cheap, but definitely wouldn't say it's overpriced like some reviews said, the price is worth the experience. The setting is so lovely! We were staying at La Badia, so ate here the first night. It was overpriced, food quality wasn't great and the service was extremely slow. The rest of our stay we went into the old town which was easier to access than we expected and the food was always excellent.
We visited here to celebrate my sisters birthday. The grounds were magnificent. I had the zucchini flan as an appetizer, lamb with truffles, and roast vegetables Others had monk fish, beef, roast potatoes....the food was fantastic. Cooked to perfection and the wait service first class. I highly recommend. a bit pricey but well worth if you have opportunity to visit
We had a decent dinner with excellent service. Given the prices, our expectations were not fulfilled.
