This is the most delightful hotel for a brilliant hot meal. First hotel coming into Portland.. Exceptional value for money. Its our first choice always..
Good honest pub food. Got the garlic bread going off recommendations on tripadvisor, wife thought it was great but really, how good can garlic bread be?? Wife had flake with veges and chips (?!) and I had the twice cooked pork belly. Both meals were of generous proportions (not huge like some other reviews) and of a good quality. All... More
Friendly bar and nice dining room. Visited twice within a week and the standard was consistent. I have to agree with comments praising the garlic bread. Pricing is reasonable and the menu is varied with good choices. You cannot go wrong.
We come here every time we visit Portland. Reliably good quality food & service- honest delicious pub fare. Cozy enough for couples and a larger area for families.
Called in for lunch on a very cold day. Disappointed that the open fire was not alight and the dining room was quite cold. Despite this the service was very good and the food most acceptable. A rib eye [ bone on ] was cooked as requested accompanied by plenty of salad and good chips. The duck ragout with Turkish... More
Arrived right on 6pm, open fire, white table cloths and people seated ready for dinner alerted me to the popularity of this venue. The garlic bread is delicious as were the fish dishes my husband and I had. Staff were helpful with menu choices and service was friendly and prompt. Regional wines on the menu and very reasonably priced. Value... More
We chose to dine here as it was a short walk from our accommodation and were very pleasantly surprised. Good food at reasonable prices, friendly service and a very pleasant atmosphere encouraged us to return the next night and it was just as good. Great to see lots of locals dining there too. .
We were referred to this place by a lady who claimed it "had the best Garlic bread in town". Dont disagree but the standard of main courses was also very good and the atmosphere was very good too. I seem to remember only a short wine list but there was enough to keep us happy. Not cheap but good value.
The food suited our family and the prices were reasonable. Of fashion hotel which gives an insight into what this country town is all about.
Was going to eat in the bar area but decided to move to the restaurant as it was quieter. Paid $7.00 for a large coke (ridiculous!!) Had to wait inline to order as they don't do table service. Food was ok but my partner was not satisfied with his. The price for the meals didn't really reflect on the quality... More
