Cocktails are good, and the terrasse is nice when the sun is setting down. It gives a luminous glow to the city.
Suffering from jet lag we wanted to go to a restaurant close to our hotel. We chose this restaurant because it had wonderful Spanish guitar music playing in an outdoor venue on a beautiful September evening. Since it was our first visit to Budapest, we certainly wanted good local Hungarian food. We were not disappointed. Great goulash, cold beer and... More
We visited this place after looking at the menu which looked great. My son had a burger which was excellent, however, the chips were cold, my husbands food was cold, which is not surprising as they food had sat waiting to be picked up from the serving hatch for the best part of 5 minutes - luckily I had a... Great view of the Basilica and good atmosphere. Was the best Goulash I had in Budapest and the Raspberry mojito was amazing. Staff were nice. Was also live music playing which was really beautiful
Went on this cafe for a beer and an irish coffee. The irish coffee was shaken without whipped cream and the beer was just mishandled in such a bad way (the beer started out standing on the bar for 10 minutes before they even considered taking it to the table, and when it did they held it into another glass... This is the hot place to be for those with money, I've heard, but after standing in line a long time, I was disappointed by all the terrible dancers, obnoxious people, and uncool music. If you want to hang out with the upper crust, hit Rudas, which is somewhat better, I think.
Very well located pub. The staff was very friendly and spoke a few languages. They seem to treat the guests the same whether you were local or not (not always the case in Budapest). A cool place to relax and go out before or after dinner.
We stumbled across Otkert on the last night of a long-weekend stay, having looked for a restaurant serving more local food rather than the usual pizza/pasta offering of many in the area. The food really stood out against most of what we'd had through the stay, and was refreshingly different in the range offered. Situated between the Danube and St... More
This restaurant has a nice outdoor seating area, both in front as in the back of the restaurant. Prices are in line with what I expect in Budapest, portions are not huge, but certainly sufficient. Quality of the food is good, not too greasy and it all seemed and smelled fresh. I'd go there again.
We only ate here once but liked the location, atmosphere, wine and prices so came back for a drink on a few other nights. Interesting bathroom decor! Pleasant area for sitting outside in the evening if the weather is warm (there are blankets on the chairs if you get a little chilly).
