This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and even late dinners. Food is well-prepared and tasty. They are almost always crowded, but will seat you in a reasonable time. Reservations are recommended. This is a very popular spot for tourists (near many monuments), so dress is casual to dressy. Always classy, and always good service and excellent food.

I had dinner and breakfast here while on holiday in DC. While both meals were very good, I found the overall ambience a bit corporate and "worky" and the staff were pretty nonchalant.

Perfect place to meet for lunch, dinner, or just drinks!!! Food and wine are wonderful, in a historic setting. Steps from the center of government, you may run into your senator or congressman. It is also a gathering for the Hill staffers and tourists. Combine the vibe with a great menu and service. We had Spinach Salad, Crab Cakes, and... More

Aside from being centrally located and dripping with history, The Old Ebbitt Grill has a varied menu and wine list with reasonable prices. But the best part is the food! I had grilled oysters that were so incredibly flavorful and crunchy that I persuaded my oyster-phobic husband to try one and he even smiled!! He had a nice steak cooked... More

Started going here in the early '80s but haven't been in about 4 years. Boy, has it expanded! Yet somehow the vibe is still there. Bars are overcrowded (in a good way), tables are full, and menu is superb. We had Cape Cod Day Boat Scallops (six of them!) and a huge Grilled Chicken whose formal name escapes me. It's... More

We were invited to this historical dining place on a very historical date of our life by a very special couple. We were overwhelmed not only by our personal event but also by the historical significance of this Old Ebbit Grill. The moment all of us were there, we were quickly led to our reserved table. The service was top... More

Every trip we make to DC we always go here for our first night since it is within walking distance to the J.W. Marriott and we enjoy the food and atmosphere. Over 10 years+ we have never had a bad meal here and the service is surprisingly excellent considering how large and busy the place is. I would also note... More

good variety on the menu, great food, wonderful classy old atmosphere located near the white house, and responsive service - better have reservations or be prepared to wait. when we were there is was very busy and noisy enough that it was hard to hear.

Walked in without a reservation at 10am on Saturday and were seated at a wonderful table in the very back. Service was excellent. Two of us had the eggs Chesapeake and it was exactly as billed. Wonderful lumps of tender crab and delicous poached eggs on an english muffin with a light sauce. Another had eggs Long Island- the accompanying... More

My family and I ate dinner here in March of 2013. The service was friendly and efficient. The shrimp (half price during certain evening hours) was spot on and the clam chowder was delish. My daughter had the fish and chips which she enjoyed. My husband has the steak salad which was decent. My son's shrimp Caesar wrap - eh.... More
