Well worth a visit. They moved to a larger location and the food is very good. The service is excellent and is a good place to stop on your way to the ski areas.
WhenI want to have lunch or dinner out this is my first choice and go to place. I have lived in the area over 30 years. The service is wonderful and the food is tasty and beautiful. Family friendly. Fresh ingredients are evident. I have been told the owner was a chef in Big Surprise. Right off I 80 at... More
My wife and I liked the atmosphere of Joe Caribe. She had the catfish and loved it. I had the ribs and thought they were just ok. I didn't care for the mashed potatoes or the slaw. I think it's because the ribs, potatoes, and slaw all had unique flavors. Another person might love these flavors. They just didn't suit... More
This was a nice relaxing place. My wife had a Margarita to start and it was fine. We then shared a roasted artichoke, which was well prepared. I had a fish taco and my wife a shrimp one. They were both well done. The place had a certain sports bar atmosphere but it was not particularly loud. We enjoyed the... More
I don't often think of Auburn as a place to get great food, but my husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we stopped here on our way back to Reno. We got to the restaurant just as Happy Hour was ending, and our waitress made sure we got our $1 off pints of beer. We both ordered the Pork... More
We originally were directed here by a phone book when looking for a mexican restaurant that had moved. This looked unusual and we went in. It was a quiet attractive inviting atmosphere. Who would have ever thought of putting sweet potatoes in a burrito? The combinations were all good. We tried 3 different ones. Even one with peanuts. Give the... More
It was a beautiful evening, and we arrived & seated, after we ordered the food, power went out, alarm went off, we were informed that the whole block had a power outage, the entire staff were very apologetic. We were given a choice to sit with the candles lit on or do take out. We opted to stay. Our dishes... More
Order the Pork Mojo sandwich, dump on a ton of the homemade habenero sauce & thank me later! Also like them on FB and they shoot out pics of what the chef if working on a the special for the night.
Living but ten minutes away, we really enjoy their fish taco plates as a carryout, too. When ordering, make certain that they understand you want the plate, which includes two fish tacos, beans and rice. Their carrot and ginger slaw is also very refreshing. The salsa is truly hot, so apply sparingly!
Joe Caribe only has a beer and wine license so they serve "Moctails," which are actually very good. They also have a LARGE selection of beer and ginger beer. The Fish Tacos and the Yellow Curry are the real stars, plus the burritos are huge. Excellent service and some atmosphere.
