Description: Bistro 491 opened its doors in March of 1999 as an intimate neighborhood eatery serving a menu inspired by the seasons. We strive to serve simple, elegant food, paired with a stellar wine list and professional service. Chef Todd Schafer uses specialty purveyors from all over the nation to get the best quality ingredients, whether it's oysters from Seattle, foie gras from the Hudson Valley or fresh seafood flown in from the M.F. Foley Fish Co. in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Our goal is to treat all of our patrons as we would guests in our home.

Went there for dinner this past Saturday night. It wasn't overly busy but there were a lot of kids there for Prom night. Usually this place is a good to great place from service to the food. Not so this time. On the plus side we did enjoy our food. The pork chop had a lot of flavor and was... More

We go to Bistro every year during the Masters and they never fail to excite us with new selections and excellent food, beer, wine and service. We'll be back again.

Loved our dinner and the service was superb! Best experience in Augusta while there for three nights while attending the Master's Golf Tournament. Fabulous food and would highly recommend!

The food and service were very good. The menu has a good selection. It is a bit pricey, but the food is worth it.

We attended a wine dinner in the large private room with about 40 guests. Each dish was paired with a wine. None of the items except desert were on the regular menu but all were well executed and tasty.

The atmosphere is quaint, romantic and inviting; the wine list extensive and the food is simply exquisite. Portions are sometimes a little small for the price but it is so delicious you want to eat every bite! There is always something rather exotic on the menu or something to try that you have never had before and I have never... More

Had an 8:00 reservation for one on Monday and was told upon arriving at 7:45 that my table wouldn.t be ready until 8:i5 or 8:30. It was a full house and somewhat noisy, so I opted to eat at the bar, which was quieter even with Monday Night Football. My server was very pleasant and the wine list offered some... More

Todd is back and it appears Bistro 491 may return to its previous glory. If you've stayed away awhile, check out the new menu,

the food is consistent, good. The calamari is crispy with just enough saltiness. And the crispy chicken is cooked perfectly. But the ambiance is always too noisy with the wide open dining area. If you want a good meal - go. But if you want romance, it's much too noisy.

We went on a Tuesday night to celebrate our friend's anniversary. Our server, Elena, was so delightful and made our meal and the evening so special. We enjoyed a riveting red wine that sold for $30 and the cheese platter as an appetizer to share; just enough to whet the appetitie before our mains were delivered. Two of us enjoyed... More
