Armed with map and compass, we journeyed into the depths of Pasig City on a quest for Café Juanita. It was a surprising find to say the least. Cluttered with ornaments, antiques, woven hangings and Christmas decorations, the dining room was an amalgam of Victoriana and the Middle Eastern with a twist of Filipino: fussy but fun, and wonderfully cosy....

As soon as I walked into the cafe, the interior design of the place consumed me! It was full of interesting objects on display that would make a good topic for conversation. Our group reserved an area on the second floor that was enclosed by glass sliding doors which gave us a lot of privacy to discuss work matters with...

There is no place better than Cafe Juanita for great food in Pasig. If you get to encounter the owner (not to be announced, the ex-gynecologist says)...it will even be a better meal with his banter. Go! Go now!
Attended a birthday party there for father in law. There were about 20 of us, seated at 3 separate tables( even with advanced reservations). Our table ordered juice drinks and the waiter had to be reminded twice to serve it. The food was mediocre. The kare kare hardly had sauce and no oxtail. The chicken wrapped in banana leaves were...

In a restaurant like this, one doesn't run out of things to observe and talk about. There are just too many objects on display, but the owner Dr. Bautista managed to put them on shelves, walls, ceiling, floor, patio, in fact almost everywhere, to provoke sensory overload. It's like being in a museum. What I appreciated readily was the Southern...

Dining in Cafe Juanita...

The decor in this restaurant is so tacky. It's like the owner(s) put all their souvenirs from their travels abroad in the two level restaurant. Maybe that's the charm of the place. I still don't get it. With that said, the food was good. Not the best Filipino food I've had on this trip, but good enough for the restaurant...

My family attended Cafe Juanita on Valentines Day 2013.
First off, if you are looking to attend Cafe Juanita, there is a new location and the old location. Both are on google maps. Luckily, they are just around the corner from each other. However, the old location still has signage etc, so don't let this confuse you. There is not...

Good Filipino food in a hyper-stylized setting. I don't get the raves, you can get similar in other restaurants with more understated decor. Only the kitsch factor separates this from the rest of the bunch.
