We stumbled across this restaurant during our Californian road trip honeymoon adventure. I'm pleased we went in. It was a busy evening, but the service was still great. I had the squid ink linguine...it was sooo nice. Best linguine I've ever eaten. We also had a delicious dessert. The food is fresh, locally sourced and very tasty. Had a great... More

We almost turned away from this simple looking restaurant until we saw wild salmon and grass fed beef served on the menu! The bread and wonderful fresh cilantro dipping sauce were delicious. I had the lamb meatballs which were excellent along with a salad!! My husband had the beef short ribs which were free of fat and were from grass... More

this restaurant recently received its green certification. no matter. the important thing is that everything tasted good. local calamari was grilled and served on a bed of peas and diced sunchoke. local salmon was a special the day we dined for lunch. waitstaff was excellent. i'll definitely return.

The food here was above average. Two of us had burgers which had good flavor, due primarily to the sauce. Salads were good. One had salmon special that was very good and one had carpaccio and a salad that was above average. The real plus were the desserts. Italian bread pudding and a berry cobbler....to die for! Service was average.... More

After walk at Carmel beach, we had an early dinner at Basil Carmel. We called to book reservation one day early. Pros: - dinner was cooked to the perfect point (we had duck liver, grass-fed braised meat, black squid linguine) - dishes were special - basil sauce for bread is a must-try - great place for romance or quality dinner... I had lunch at Basil three times on my last visit, each time the food was perfectly prepared. I was most impressed with the ravioli, they were tender little pillows, best I have every eaten On Mothers day I had a Bellini, it was much better than Harry's in Venice.

An SA at the Bottega Veneta boutique in Carmel first turned me onto Basil. I've been there several times solo and with DH on day trips to the Monterey Peninsula. DH and I returned again last Saturday to wrap up our trip to Cooking for Solutions. We thought about eating in Carmel Valley after wine tasting, but since we love... More

We made reservations for my birthday. We are local but had not visited Basil before. We sat at the back near two very loud business woman who didn't have the courtesy to keep their conversations at a more acceptable level. The food was very average and both my husband and I were so disappointed we walked down to 400 degree... More

My friend and I chose this restaurant because it was rated #1 when we went in April 2013. After eating there, I couldn't understand why it was #1 and now I see it is down to #3. We went for lunch about 2:45 p.m. There was only one other table occupied inside and one outside. I found the service was... More

My husband and I dined there twice in one week because the food was so good! Very small and charming atmosphere. The owner Dennis and his partner were very nice and accommodating. Our server Ashley was great and very attentive. The menu is small and creative. They always have nightly specials too. Everything we ate was wonderful. See photo's. The bread... More
