Good food, but wait staff seems to be over worked or not enough experience. We had a char-grilled burger with sauteed mushrooms and shoe-sting fries. I shared the burger with a companion and the serving size was proportional for healthy meal. They have a full bar, but a small selection of beer, and a small wine list. Not a four... More

Stopped here because it was next door to my hotel and I wanted something other than a chain meal. The ribs had a good sweet barbecue sauce, although the meat itself was not as tender as I'd like...it definitely was a chore getting some of the meat from the bones. The sides were outstanding...mac and cheese and a double-baked potato.... More

Happened upon this restaurant, as it was close to our hotel. Wasn't expecting much, however we were delightlfully surprised. The food was delicious and reasonable. Service was prompt and pleasant. Beer was excellent. Would highly recommend! More

We arrived at the Super 8 on Fremont Street quite late, and having been driving all day we needed a meal. Denny's was the easy option, but we were advised to try the Monterey Cookhouse - and I'm very pleased we did. The Brisket Dip was a fantastic starter. The pulled pork pizza was delicious. The pulled pork sliders were... More

The food was certainly good, as long as you like BBQ. The service was very poor. I couldn't even get a refill for my iced tea and we waited a very long time to get our check. The place is cramped and the waiter obviously had way too many tables to attend. More

We ate here twice and it was packed on both nights. It deserves its popularity. The staff annd management were friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We ate steaks on the first night and they were cooked just right. We tried the burgers the second time and they were also very good. The kitchen was open to view from the... More

The sign for Monterey Cookhouse is a lot fancier then what you get inside. I came in for lunch, and was surprises to be greeted by such dated decor. The place looked like an old dinner inside, with torn plastic table clothes. We opted to sit at the bar, which did have two large and well positioned TVs with the... More
