Showed up at 9 without a reservation and got a table quickly. Service was great and the food was delicious. Good wine list. Will surely go back.
I actually didn't dine at their previous location, but it's hard to imagine that they could have equaled this dinner. I chose it because a board member at a local nonprofit donates gift certificates to be auctioned at fundraisers. It was all I could have expected. For one, the service was prompt and cheerful, starting with reservations. When they called... More
I used to go to this restaurant in the 70's, but for some reason I hadn't been to it for many years. Probably it changed hands many times since then. My recent experience was absolutely great and quite frankly I thought the food and atmosphere were much better than at the #1 rated restaurant in town. The main course was... More
I wanted to give this a higher rating as the service was excellent , the place is clean and pretty and there is an excellent wine and beer choice. Alas the food was good but not great. I had the Pork chop entree. It was a little overcooked and the sauce was confused for my taste. For desert the Tiramisu... More
Went to St. Michael's Annex on Saturday for brunch with my sister. We arrived at 10 a.m. when the restaurant opens, and there was already a short line to get in. We waited about 10 minutes before being seated. The Annex itself is a cozy restaurant with large windows looking out onto a street of downtown Palo Alto - lots... More
I dined here recently with a group of 10 and had very high expectations. The restaurant is beautiful and as soon as we checked in they had our table ready in a more private part of the restaurant where we didn't have to worry about disturbing others' more intimate dinners. Between the 10 of us, we probably ordered everything on... More
We go to the St Michaels Annex that is only open on weekends for brunch. We love this place. Wonderful omelletes, great Benedict's -I always get the salmon Benedict. The French Toast is divine. The host is very charming.
We had the pleasure of visiting Saint Michael's Alley as we were passing through Palo Alto as part of our 3 week road trip throughout California. Having already visited Napa and been spoiled by the delicious meals available in the valley, we were very suprised by this litte gem. First of we were greeted by a very hospitable and engaging... I read about this place in the Steve Jobs biography. Then, shortly after moving to Palo Alto, I accidentally drove by it. I remembered that Jobs had taken his wife there on his first date with her. He was extremely wealthy, yet frugal and pursued excellence at all levels. So I had to try it. I have been twice now... More
The Annex on Emerson is for brunch only. It is a couple blocks from the lunch and dinner St. Michael's Alley location on Homer. They do not take reservations for brunch. We got there five minutes before the opening at 10 am. You should go inside to give them your name when you arrive, but at 10 am they will... More
