Pretty disappointing. I would expect much better Mexican food in Southern California, even if it is a national chain outlet.
Used to be excellent and one of my favorite places to go, so much so that we get a gift card at Christmas every year. The food is worse and worse every time we go. So sad!
I really enjoyed being here but one thing that bugs me and it bugs me everytime I visit El Torito - Grill or otherwise is the little dollup of Corn cake, why can;t they give me more of that. I know a lot of people I know don't like it but I love it and they wont give you more... More
This is not your regular Mexican food--a little more upscale and varied flavors. The Shrimp Diablo is our favorite--grilled shrimp on a bed of flavored rice with a light chile cream sauce. Very tasty. If you want standard El Torito, you have to go to the pier or elsewhere. Nothing is the same but the Margaritas.
This is one of our neighborhood restaurants and we come here every once in a while for the Sunday brunch. Only every once in a while? Well, the "problem" is that the brunch is "all you can eat" style and the food is way too good to resist. So far we did not manage to leave without overeating and falling... More

For locals, as well as out-of-town guests, El Torito Grill is a great option. The restaurant is big, with easy parking in the Restaurant Row area near the intersection of Hawthorne Blvd and Torrance Blvd. It is one of our favorites, and my daughter even chose it over many other contenders for her Sweet Sixteen party* (more about that, below.)...
