I was sorry to see it leave, both locations closed around Oct. 1st, 2013. Maybe we will see them reopen at some time in the future?
I have been to both locations. I do not consider their food very good. There is no ambiance, you have to serve yourself, and the place is messy, esp. the one on 43rd. Do yourself a favor and cook at home.
Just read in today's Gainesville Sun that both locations of Tasty Buddha in Gainesville have closed. They have been having financial problems for some time... including not paying their employees.
We tried Tasty Buddha randomly this evening to end an impromptu day trip to Gainesville (we live nearly 2 hours away near Palm Coast). We loved the causal, relaxed, atmosphere and serving style. The yellow walls are lovely and the beach paintings were stunning. The outdoor patio is awesome! Was impressed by how genuine, friendly and helpful our cashier was... More
I have loved the Turkey Burgers and Sweet Potato fries at both Buddha Belly and, it's west side restaurant, Tasty Buddha. I boycotted both for several months when it was reported that the owner was not paying his staff. I just returned and checked to make sure staff were being paid. Food is really good. They need to better clean... More
I have been coming here for years. Tasty Buddha serves the best fried rice of anywhere around!! Plan to share a plate with a friend because it's 2-3 servings each dish! I always have tons of leftovers. Great price! And good drinks too :)
The food here is incredible. My favorite is the cheeseburger fried rice. Oh, the sweet potato fries are out if this world too. Great sauces. BTW, the portions are huge. More than enough for 2 people.
To be fair - this is a place my husband loves dearly. For me, there is very limited food options. I was pleased when they added fried green tomatoes to the menu.
If you are looking for something beyond the everyday for a great price in a beautiful setting, check out Tasty Buddha. Order the Fried Rice, an Angry Orchard on tap, and sit on the deck. Great place!
Curry dishes, burgers, fish sandwiches (which are superb), really good salads, and local microbrews. How much better can it get. I usually go to the 43rd street location, sit outside, and have a wonderful evening. The heat index is REALLY HOT, so don't go over number 2 unless you are a seriously seasoned curry veteran.
