It's the kind of food you'd make in your own kitchen if you could. This is the slow cooked full flavored stuff that tastes like more. :) With a side of corn bread, so nice. more

We took a friend who was visiting from out of town to this restaurant because he liked spicy food and the restaurant had gotten some decent write-ups as a tourist heaven for Chicago visitors. We originally intended to visit the Wabash location, but found it was not open for dinner - at least on weekends, so went to the Michigan... more

If you know the history of Chicago Blues, you'll understand how a restaurant with New Orleans cuisine can be a "Chicago legend". There are two locations, the original on N Wabash, and a second on E Ohio. Do not make the mistake we made and go to the N Wabash location for dinner - they are lunch only. The Ohio... more

It's tough to get a good bowl of Gumbo outside of Louisiana. Heaven on Seven's gumbo is about as good as it gets. I enjoyed the gumbo and southern fried chicken. The gumbo was excellent and while the chicken was a little dry the flavor was spot on. My wife enjoyed a cup of Chili and the chicken fried steak.... more

My daughter and I recently visited Chicago. As we were walking to another restaurant, we spotted "Heaven on Seven" and decided to check out the menu. Since we both love Cajun we just had to try it. So happy we did. Everything was delicious, the service was great, and the prices were moderate for Chicago. Can't wait to return. more

Liked the original on Wabash? for its originality and authenticity. Now that its new and sparkling, the food is still good, but the mood is diminished. more

We've been to New Orleans many times, and this is great gumbo. Thick and rich, with chicken and andouille. Appropriately spicy. I had etouffee with chicken, sausage, and shrimp served over cornbread. It was very good, but it was more of a cream based sauce than the dark roux base that one normally sees. The jambalaya was very spicy. Service... more

One in our party for lunch had a burger with fries--was told they only cook their burgers one way "medium." Not a good sign, tho burger was fine. Fries were awful. Another had the sampler. Sausages were good, gumbo very good, but plain white rice--some dirty rice might've been better. Chicken fried steak was tough as they always are; batter... more

We'd gone here on a previous trip and loved it; my husband RAVED about the coconut cake. For his birthday, we flew to Chicago from Orlando for an overnight, just to celebrate his birthday and have the coconut cake for dessert. He was surprised and delighted. We told our waiter we'd come all this way just for the cake and... more
