Description: (OH-STEH-REE-YAH) A casual Italian tavern where people gather to enjoy antipasti with wine, a plate of pasta or an Italian feast, all served with the warmth and hospitality of family. Osteria Via Stato, a Lettuce Entertain You restaurant follows this definition and the Italian tradition of seasonally prepared dishes featuring local ingredients and artisanal producers paired with an all Italian wine list. Osteria Via Stato opens daily at five. Pizzeria Via Stato located adjacent to Osteria Via Stato is a cozy, Roman-style pizzeria that continues to highlight Executive Chef Digregorio’s passion for market-fresh ingredients. The tavern pizzas have crispy, thin crust with both artisanal and classic toppings. The tavern also features 300 Italian wines, local bottles and draft beers as well as an extensive selection of small plates. Pizzeria Via Stato offers both lunch and dinner

What this restaurant lacks in decor, it more than makes up for in cuisine. The food was fantastic, as was the service. If you like spice, I strongly recommend ordering the Rhode Island Calamari (versus the regular friend calamari). It was fantastic!. The interior design of the restaurant is a little strange and borderline campy, but it didn't detract too... More

Located just a block off Michigan Avenue's Magnificent Mile and a short walk from major hotels, this restaurant made an evening's dining a real treat. We had the prix fixe and were glad we did. Every item was delicious, and if we wanted more of any of them (except the entree), all we had to do was ask. I had... More

The salad was much richer than I expected it to be after having read the discription on the menu. Actually it was looking for such a salad and was very happy about it. So happy that I went for a Dessert (salted caramel cream) which turned out to be pretty heavy and not very nicely decorated. I did enjoy my... More

A incredibly friendly staff led us to the dining room where I had one of the best chicken dishes ever. A caramel cheese cake for desert was the best ever.

Good, but not great Italian restaurant. Limited menu, with little in the way of interesting entrees or side dishes. No veal, and little seafood. If you want a good pizza, very good salad, or pasta in a comfortable setting, this would be a good choice. Next to Embassy Suites Hotel.

We had dinner here during a weekend trip to Chicago. The food was delicious (the bread was amazing), our server was friendly and very knowledgeable on the food, ingredients, and how everything was prepared. Portions were larger than we expected, especially considering the low price. Food was delicious and a great value. We'd absolutely return.

Great location in downtown Chicago, and the ambiance is quite nice. Pizzas are quite tasty, and service is good as well.

Our family of four went to Osteria Via Stato for a birthday dinner. Every aspect of our experience was outstanding. Our server Nathan was great, explaining the menu items and how everything was prepared, describing various ingredients, their origins, etc., and just generally enhancing our dining experience with his friendliness, sense of humor and attentiveness. The food itself -- antipasti,... More
