Not much to add, except that as of June 2013 Doug's is still a fantastic place to go for meat. Doug himself and the staff are incredible, the selection and quality of sausages (er, encased meats) exceptional, and it is well worth the long wait. It is not easy to find, but I guess that keeps the wait at only... More

Wow! My dad and I took a trip into Chicago to go to Wrigley Field and we wanted to get an iconic Chicago hot dog while we were there. Well, it didn't take long on Trip Advisor to find the best hot dog place in Chicago and wouldn't you know it was right off of W. Addison St. "near" Wrigley.... More

We frequent Hot Doug's almost monthly and it never disappoints! Going to Doug's involves some strategic planning - check Doug's website for days of operation (as sometimes Doug takes vacations), arrive early to avoid a long line/wait, and bring cash. It is entirely worth the effort - Doug's menu is the most creative blend of encased meats and toppings, and... More

We took a long weekend to see The Stones in Chicago and of course had to go back to Hot Doug's - which we originally saw on a Travel Channel show. We were hoping for a short line - but at 12:30 on a Friday it was about an hour wait. I hate waiting in lines and never thought I... More

We visit about once each year and are always amused/entertained by the experience..... Doug is QUITE the character and his recommendations and good humor are much appreciated. The dogs are the main character BUT the Duck-fat fries (Friday's) take the cake..... that being said, we no longe eat 'em because the are so filling, that we couldn't eat dinner some... More

I came because of the reputation. The line was out the door as expected. But it moves quickly. I suggest buying 2 if you live out of town. Locals can come everyday. I really liked the basic hot dog, just delicious. They have exotic meat, but I was not brave. Soo fun to just say you came here!

part of the hot doug's experience is the long line, so I am okay with it. if you are going to bare the long lines for just a plain hotdog, it is not worth it. You have to order some of the specialty dogs or a game of the day dog. Doug is ALWAYS working, which I think is pretty... More

Worth braving the line to try at least once. The sausages themselves could be a little bigger, but they are very good...so order more than one to make it worthwhile. Frank n' Dawgs might give you better bang (and taste) for your buck though

Incredible dogs. I had a traditional Chicago Dog, and a pheasant sausage with herb mustard, brie, and duck confit. They were both amazingly flavorful, and left me wanting more. If you're in Chicago, you MUST go here. The owner was working the register and he made the experience that much better. It's worth the wait in line.

This place is awesome. That's why everyone will stand in line in the dead of winter forever for it! I'm a huge fan of the spicy hot dog, whose name changes regularly, but I started eating it when alias was on, and it was the Jennifer Garner. Try to hit it on a day that they offer duck fat fries,...
