"Homemade" soup that isn't, soggy BLT, cole slaw a day past its prime, frozen fries. The whole meal tasted like it had been prepared with stuff from the local warehouse club. Clean place, okay service. Go somewhere else.

My wife and I had breakfast at the Golden Hen Café in Galena Illinois. I highly recommend you try it. Situated along the historic main street, the Golden Hen Café is a colorful and beautifully decorated café. Like all the buildings on that street, it is quite old. Very close to DeSoto Hotel, good food. Complimentary bowl of fresh fruit with breakfast was a nice touch.
My husband ordered a breakfast panini which really was just warm eggs and ham on cold bread without the cheese even being melted. The bacon is quite good though and the waitress we had was lovely.
Excellent food and service for a basic cafe. The burgers and fries are outstanding and the amount of food is more than the average person can eat. The prices are very reasonable so it is great for a family on a budget.

Staff not so friendly. Food was average for breakfast. Price was right. Always available tables, which may say something for the place.
had breakdast here and was very impressed and even better yet the bill for my wife and i was under 20 bucks. great coffee and a huge platter of food. nothing fancy about the place except the fresh squeezed orange juice machine.
I had lunch with my sister and mom at the Golden Hen Cafe. My mom ordered a lunch item and her soup was luke warm. The waitress took it back, unwillingly. Shortly after, we received our meals. I immediately noticed a hair embedded in my hashbrowns. It took a while for the waitress to come and check on us, despite...
