This is a small & cozy German/French restaurant. We had a wonderful & delicious German meal with fantastic service. For the French, we had French wine. Great place to eat.

Arrived in Galena on a cold, rainy day, but the welcoming hospitality we received the minute we walked in to this restaurant, more than warmed us up! The food was superb and service outstanding. When we couldn't decide between two soups and finally ordered the onion, the waitress brought us a "taste" of the seafood chowder to try...and both were great!...

We arrived late Friday evening after many detours...but the hospitality and food and service was excellent! We especially loved the service! The food was fantastic and the prices are affordable. A definite hit!
We only spent one full day in Galena, IL and decided we wanted to make the most of it, including eating at a fine restaurant. On the advice of locals from the Old Market House Welcome Center & the European chocolate store, we decided to eat at Fritz and Frites and glad we did.
The ambiance is adorable and the...

Once again, Fritz and Frites was one of the highlights of our annual trip to Galena. The Steak Frites is better than ever. The Wiener Schnitzel and Spaetzle is also quite tastey. The staff is efficient and very friendly and helpful with information about area attractions. The quaint bistro atmosphere is quite relaxing.
Such a cute place at the end of Main street, so don't miss it! We had some of their German specialties and loved almost all of it. The weinerschnitzel was a bit greasy, but spaetzel absolutely delicious. Don't bring kids here, though, it's really for adults.
This restaurant is almost at the end of the main street strip but worth the walk or search. Service is spot on. The menu is about the right size for this type of restaurant with a good selection of international (European) beers and wines. I'd say it's a good balance between French & German plates but our part of 4...

Third visit. Like Peppersprout in Dubuque, they have rested on their laurels.. and have become nonchalant. Menu is limited...and the signature french fries are just uninspired. If you are making roast chicken one of your signature dishes...dont expect your customers to wait thirty minutes. Also.charging $9.50 per glass for modest wine is just taking advantage. Decor and ambience decent...but a...

Very interesting dining concept combining german and french dishes. Small and cozy with a very nice wine list. very good service. Reservations recommended on the weekends.
This appears to be out of place in Galena. It reminds you of a quaint off-street cafe in Europe, possibly France, Germany or London.
All food is freshly prepared with daily specials in addition to the few regular items.
It is difficult to pick a favorite - Everything is great.
Hopefully Fred will finish his outside seating area.. He has...
