St. Elmo's is the old man of Indy. Not only locals but celebrities are always coming there when they are in town. The shrimp cocktail is everyone's favorite. The Steaks are wonderful and the wait staff give you their friendly attention.

Always good. Along with the Capital Grille it's pretty much the only good steak house in Indy. Make sure to try the shrimp cocktail with the hottest cocktail sauce anywhere - it'll make your eyes water.

It's always fun to watch people try the shrimp cocktail sauce for the first time. We especially enjoyed the blueberry bread pudding.

Legendary steak house from the 1920's look's like big Al would have eaten here if it were in Chicago.

Went to Indianapolis for a Conference, I was told you have to eat t St Elmo’s and you have to get the Shrimp Cocktail. Since it was my wife and my anniversary, she went to the conference with me. I made reservations using OpenTable (connected from here at TripAdvisor). Told them it was our Anniversary. When we arrived (on time)... More

I was told that the shrimp appetizer with their famous sauce was "to die for" - and I must admit - it was spectacular. Definitely clean out your sinuses. But huge shrimp - 4 of them - and the sauce with horseradish is apparently unique to this restaurant. A superb wine list - pricey in places - but a lovely... More

This restaurant in downtown Indianapolis has been in business since the early part of the 20th century. It is a true landmark with outstanding food and service in a lovely historic building. Definitely a place to enjoy dinner--not to be missed.

We were lucky enough to have reservations during the NCAA Regionals in March. The place was packed and there was a line out the door when we arrived, so I do highly recommend them. There were five of us in our party and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. All entrees come with a choice of soup or tomato juice... More
